About me

Hi, I’m Sinead and I’m really glad you’re here. Exploring therapy can feel like a big step and the fact that you’re here means you’ve already started the process of caring for yourself.

I am a person-centred counsellor who believes in creating a warm, non-judgemental space where you can show up exactly as you are. I understand how overwhelming it can feel trying to keep it all together especially in a world that puts so much pressure on us to appear “fine” all the time. As a mother, I know what it’s like to juggle multiple roles, emotions, and expectations, often all at once. That lived experience deepens my understanding of the invisible mental load so many of us carry. I’m also passionate about mental health advocacy and breaking the stigma that surrounds it. I believe therapy should feel human, not clinical and that real connection is the foundation for meaningful change.

How Counselling Can Help

Counselling can help you make sense of overwhelming thoughts and emotions, build healthier relationships with yourself and others, and feel less alone in what you’re going through. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, OCD, addiction or relationship challenges, therapy offers a space to slow down, reflect, and begin to heal. You don’t need to have a clear reason to come to therapy just the feeling that something isn’t quite right is enough.

My Approach

As a person-centred therapist, I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is to walk alongside you, offering empathy, honesty and support without judgement or pressure.

I work holistically, which means I look at the bigger picture of who you are and how different areas of your life affect your mental health. Alongside talking therapy, I may gently introduce tools like body scans, meditation, exercise, or journalling if you feel they could support your wellbeing. These practices can help you reconnect with your body, manage overwhelm, and gain deeper insight into your thoughts and feelings.

I also love sharing book recommendations, tailored to what you’re exploring in therapy, if you’re open to it.

What to Expect in Your First Session

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and for you to get a feel for how I work. There’s no pressure to open up right away, this is your space and we’ll go at a pace that feels right for you. I’ll ask a few gentle questions to understand what’s bringing you to therapy and we’ll talk about what support might look like moving forward.

I offer a space where you can come exactly as you are. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed or simply not yourself, I’m here to walk alongside you with empathy, warmth, and real understanding.

Whether this is your first time seeking therapy or you’re returning to it, you’re welcome here. There’s no “right” way to do this – just your way and I’ll be with you every step of the journey.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma in Counselling, a PDA in Addiction Therapy and I’m certified in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).

I’ve supported clients through a wide range of issues including low mood, anxiety, grief, OCD, relationship difficulties and addiction. My experience has shown me how important it is to offer a space where people feel truly heard and accepted, whatever they’re going through.

I am a registered member of the BACP and follow their ethical framework to ensure safe and professional practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
