About me
Hi, I’m Sian, a qualified therapist based in Stourbridge. If you're struggling with anxiety, overwhelmed with life's struggles, or you've experienced trauma, therapy can help. I appreciate that often people have considered counselling for a while before actually making the step towards finding a therapist... perhaps you've tried speaking to family or friends, or maybe you've been struggling alone, not wanting to burden anyone. By the time you reach out, you may be feeling very overwhelmed and I want you to know that you're not alone in that.
Anxiety can be debilitating and make getting through each day exhausting. Aside from causing you to overthink things constantly, question yourself, dread certain situations... it is responsible for physical symptoms too, such as digestive issues, headaches, lack of sleep, the list goes on... Therapy can help you to get a handle on anxiety so that you can start to feel in control of your life again.
I often work with people who find it really hard to put themselves first. They constantly find themselves worrying what others think about them and end up putting everyone else's needs before their own. They find it incredibly hard to say no, and end up feeling really guilty if they do, often feeling responsible for the emotions of others. Counselling can help you to break this cycle.
Sometimes we just feel really, really low, and at times we're not even sure why. Please know that if you're feeling depressed, lonely, or just really sad, you'll be met with warmth, compassion and understanding within your therapy sessions. In therapy all emotions and feelings are valid, and I strive to make sure every single one of my clients feels at ease, safe and understood.
I offer a free, no-obligation 15-minute call to talk through what it is you're hoping to gain from counselling and to ask any questions you may have about the process. If you'd prefer you can drop me an email at sian@sianthompsoncounselling.co.uk
My passion for counselling stems from my own past experiences with anxiety and depression. I understand the depths of these struggles and the courage it takes to seek help in overcoming them. This first hand experience has not only shaped my approach to counselling but has also deepened my empathy and commitment to supporting others.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
