About me

Welcome, I’m Shanna. I’m glad you’ve found your way here!

I’m a Person-Centred Therapist, offering online counselling for young adults.

My expertise and specialism is supporting young adults navigating relationship dynamics, study / work, family difficulties, neurodiversity, identity and life transitions. Being a human in modern society is really difficult - my goal is to help you survive and maybe even thrive in the chaos of the every day!

My approach is gentle, warm and grounded in empathy. I believe that with the right support, kindness creates the space for healing, growth and self-understanding.

In our sessions, you’ll be met with care, respect and patience. I aim to create a safe place to explore whatever feels difficult or unclear, at your own pace.

Whether you’re struggling with overwhelm, worry, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties, or simply wanting to reconnect with who you are, I’m here to listen without judgment and to walk alongside you as you find your way forward.

You are welcome, just as you are.

My approach is grounded in Person Centered therapy, however my training includes other approaches that I keep in my toolbox in case I need them. I'll always shape my therapeutic approach to suit your needs.

Training, qualifications & experience

Want to talk?

I believe that therapy begins with kindness towards ourselves, our experiences, and the parts of us that are still finding their way. My approach is gentle, compassionate and grounded in trust, creating a space where you can feel safe enough to explore what’s happening for you, without judgment or pressure.

At the heart of my work is the belief that every person has the capacity for growth, healing and change when they feel truly heard and understood. I will meet you with warmth and curiosity, and together we can make sense of your thoughts, feelings and experiences at a pace that feels right for you.

A Trauma-Informed Approach

My approach is trauma-informed, which means I understand how experiences of stress, loss or trauma can shape how we see ourselves and the world around us. I pay close attention to creating emotional and physical safety within our sessions, always working collaboratively and at your pace.

Neurodiversity

I recognise that no two brains are the same, so however you think, feel or experience the world, you are welcome here. I am experienced in supporting young people and adults with Autism, ADHD and other neurodivergence.

Working Together

Our sessions take place online, allowing you to connect from a familiar and comfortable space. Whether you are a young person figuring out who you are, or an adult navigating life’s challenges, therapy can offer a place to pause, reflect and find new ways forward.

I bring patience, empathy and a calm, grounding presence to my work. I’ll never rush or direct you (unless I need to gently guide you for therapeutic reasons or to keep you safe). Instead, I’ll walk alongside you as we explore what feels important. Over time, you may begin to notice a deeper understanding of yourself, greater emotional balance, and a renewed sense of connection to others and to life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
