About me
Do you worry and overthink so much, you could win a medal?
As for anxiety, could that be your middle name?
And as for relationships, even the one with yourself, why can they be so hard?
Life can be a rocky road for most of us, so having the opportunity to tell your story, gain insight, clarity and a fresh perspective can be a welcome relief.
My approach combines Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), coaching, counselling and psychotherapeutic techniques to help you build unshakable self-belief, unlock your strengths and create the life you truly want.
Using humour, fresh perspectives, insightfulness and creativity, all wrapped up in 100% commitment, I can help you get to where you would like to be.
Take a look around my website www.talktoshirley.co.uk, or give me a call on 07846 729042 - you have nothing to lose except how you feel right now about yourself and your life.
As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), I work within the BACP Ethical framework.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified counsellor, psychotherapist, psychotherapeutic coach and workshop facilitator, specialising in anxiety, trauma and relationships. I have over 20 years experience supporting people to improve their emotional wellbeing and build more fulfilling lives. I aim to offer a space that is both supportive and grounded - where meaningful change can happen.
While the work we do together can be serious and transformative, I believe therapy doesn’t always have to feel heavy - sometimes a moment of humour can offer just enough perspective to help things shift!
My qualifications include:
- Professional Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, Level 5
- Post Graduate Diploma (with Distinction) in Human Givens Psychotherapy
- Rewind Trauma Practitioner
- Diploma in Fusion Therapeutic Coaching
- Mindfulness-Based Mind Management

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
