About me

Hi, my name is Sharon, and I am an integrative counsellor working from my private practice in Northampton. I offer face-to-face Therapy, Online and Telephone Therapy.

The thought of having to talk to a counsellor could seem daunting and unnerving. However, this is I come in as I aim to provide a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space where you can explore your emotions and feelings at your own pace. Everyone has a unique pathway of life that sometimes seems difficult to navigate at times.

My aim is to help you acknowledge and understand your own path, exploring who you are. And together, we can discover what it feels like for you to be seen and heard, building resilience and autonomy along the way which would help to facilitate a healthier relationship with self and others around you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am qualified. I have a BSc in Psychology & Counselling, a Postgraduate and a Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling, a registered member of BACP, hold an enhanced DBS Certificate and in addition to this, I have experience. I bring my own experience of working with a diverse and inclusive client and have acquired years of client’s hours, both face-to-face and online.

My approach is integrative, and I am trained in Psychodynamic, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, Person-Centred and Attachment theories. This means that I can practice by applying the knowledge of more than one approach to ensure that the therapy I offer is flexible and best suits the need of each individual need.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
