About me
Life can sometimes move in ways we don’t expect. Challenges build, responsibilities pile up, and even when you’ve been “coping” for a long time, it can eventually feel like too much to hold alone. Therapy offers a space to pause, to breathe, and be supported without judgement. I understand how overwhelming life can feel when you’re carrying experiences of trauma, loss, or difficult relationships, and I offer a space where those stories can be explored without judgment.
About Me
I’m Shabreen, an MBACP-registered counsellor and experienced educator. My background spans over two decades of supporting children, young people, and adults across schools, colleges, crisis settings, and therapeutic services. I bring a calm, grounded, and compassionate approach to the people I work with, offering a space where you can explore what’s going on beneath the surface and begin to feel more empowered, understood, and steady.
Many of the individuals I support come to therapy experiencing anxiety, depression, the effects of trauma, relationship or identity difficulties, or the emotional impact of life transitions and neurodiversity (including ADHD and autism and menopause). I have lived experience of baby loss and infertility and can support you through the experience of loss and grief.
My work is rooted in the person-centred approach, meaning I begin by listening deeply and understanding your world as you experience it. I also draw on trauma-informed practice, CBT-informed techniques, grounding strategies, and creative or mindfulness-based approaches where helpful.
My aim is always to work collaboratively and gently—helping you make sense of patterns, build emotional resilience, and reconnect with your sense of agency. I believe therapy should fit you, so I tailor each session to your needs, work at your pace, and what feels most supportive at the time.
Alongside my private practice, I work across a range of therapeutic and wellbeing settings:
Domestic Violence Unit (Salford University) – offering trauma-informed, person-centred support to individuals affected by domestic abuse.
CGL (St Helens) – providing counselling for those experiencing substance misuse and mental health challenges.
The Hidden Strength Foundation – delivering online therapeutic support to young people, including those experiencing suicidal ideation, within a multi-channel crisis response model.
Education settings – where I have years of experience supporting students, trainees, and staff through wellbeing, safeguarding, and pastoral care. I am also a lecturer of Counselling.
My previous career in teaching and training also shapes my therapeutic style. I am skilled at building rapport quickly, navigating sensitive disclosures with care, and understanding the pressures of academic, professional, and family life. I work confidently with safeguarding, risk assessment, and ethically robust record-keeping, ensuring you are supported safely and appropriately.
I offer therapy to adults, young people, and students and welcome anyone who is navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, neurodiversity, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, or simply feeling overwhelmed or “stuck”.
I offer a free 30-minute consultation by phone or online, to see if we are a good fit. Sessions can take place online or in person in my therapy room at home in Cheshire, depending on your preference.
How I Work
I work intergratively, drawing on person-centred and trauma-informed approaches to tailor sessions to your needs. My style is collaborative and compassionate, gently encouraging growth while honouring your pace. Whether you are seeking clarity, coping strategies, or simply a place to share your story, I aim to create a therapeutic relationship that feels safe and empowering and where your story is heard without judgement.

I am committed to ethical practice, ongoing supervision, and continuous professional development to ensure the highest standards of care.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
