MSs, MBACP Psychodynamic Counsellor and Psychotherapist

About me

I'm Séverine, a BACP-registered psychodynamic psychotherapist working with adults online and in person in London (King's Cross, WC1 and London Bridge, SE1).

Many people come to therapy not quite sure what has brought them here — just a feeling that something isn't quite right, or that the same patterns keep repeating. Perhaps you are living with anxiety or depression, or carrying something painful from the past — a difficult experience, a loss, or a trauma. Perhaps you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from who you are. Or perhaps you simply know that something needs to change, even if you can't yet say what.

You don't need to have everything figured out to start therapy. I can help you make sense of difficult feelings, understand your relationships, and explore who you are and who you want to be.

Who I can help

I have particular experience with people exploring questions of identity — around gender, sexuality, cultural belonging, or navigating family expectations versus who you feel yourself to be. I have worked with LGBTQIA+ clients (including at Albany Trust, a charity specialising in sexuality and relationships) and with neurodiverse clients, including those with ADHD. I also bring specialist understanding of the pressures of working in the performing arts, creative industries, and touring life, drawn from 20 years of personal experience in that world. I work in both English and French.

If you are unsure whether I can help you, please do get in touch — I am happy to have that conversation. I offer a free 20-minute introductory call, which can make that first step feel a little easier.

My approach

My approach is psychodynamic, which means I work with both what's happening in your life now and with how past experiences — particularly early relationships — may still be shaping how you think, feel, and relate to others today.

Clients have described me as caring, curious, and attentive. I am genuinely interested in people and in helping you think about what you bring. My way of working is collaborative and reflective — we think together about what emerges over time, at a pace that feels right for you. I offer a warm, non-judgemental space, though I may gently challenge your thinking when that feels useful.

I offer both long-term open-ended work and shorter-term therapy, and we agree together which approach suits you best.

My background

Before training as a therapist, I spent 20 years working internationally in the performing arts — touring with orchestras and dance companies across the world. That career brought me into contact with a wide range of people from all walks of life. I have always been interested in others and loved hearing their stories, and this eventually led me to retrain as a psychotherapist. That experience shapes how I work today: I am genuinely curious about people, comfortable with difference and attentive to what sits beneath what someone says.

I trained at Birkbeck, University of London (MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy), one of the UK's leading psychotherapy training institutions. I have since worked in a university counselling service, at Albany Trust (LGBTQIA+ focused), at Age UK (bereavement), and with the NHS. I am a registered member of BACP (417038).

Next steps

I offer a free 20-minute introductory call so you can ask any questions you might have and we can have an initial chat about what has brought you to therapy. I will also explain what the next steps might be.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
