About me
After a decade of researching consciousness as a neuroscientist, and a successful academic career, my own personal journey led me into the therapy room first as a client and eventually as a therapist. I have experienced myself and also witnessed in many of my clients how profoundly therapy can transform our relationship with ourselves and the way we live our lives.
I have trained in Gestalt counselling, Jungian dreamwork, and mindfulness-based body-oriented psychotherapy. In my practice, I bring together the multiple dimensions of these complementary trainings together with my scientific background. I work relationally and in a person-centred approach, which means that our relationship plays an important role, and we explore together what wants to emerge inside you in a safe, non-judgemental and organic way. Most importantly, I create a safe space, where we together understand and allow the unfolding of your unique experience without bringing in any top-down dictates of how you should be.
I offer long and short term therapy sessions online and in person in Oxford. Sessions usually take place weekly at a regular time, although the length and frequency of our work can be discussed depending on your circumstances and what brings you to therapy.
I offer an initial 30-minute online consultation. This gives you an opportunity to tell me a little about what is bringing you to therapy, ask any questions you may have, and get a sense of how it feels to speak with me. This consultation gives us both an opportunity to consider whether I am the right therapist for you. If we decide to work together, we will agree on a regular session time for weekly sessions.
As a member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) my practice follows ethical BACP guidelines.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained in Gestalt counselling, Jungian dreamwork, and mindfulness-based body-oriented psychotherapy. Before training as a therapist, I researched on consciousness and non-ordinary states such as meditation, psychedelics and their therapeutic use as well as disorders of consciousness at University of Oxford, Imperial College London, UNSW and UPF. In my practice, I bring together the multiple dimensions of these complementary trainings together with my scientific background.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
