About me

Hi, I'm Sarah, a qualified person-centred counsellor offering online and telephone counselling for adults aged 18 and over.

I provide a warm, down-to-earth and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever is important to you and feel genuinely heard. My approach is led by your pace, your needs and your choice of topic. I believe you are the expert on your own life and experiences, and rather than telling you what to do, I will work alongside you to help you explore your thoughts and feelings, gain a deeper understanding of yourself and find a way forward that feels right for you.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, disconnected from yourself, or struggling with the pressures and expectations of everyday life. Perhaps you're managing a significant life change, experiencing relationship difficulties, or finding it hard to make sense of your thoughts and emotions. Sometimes we spend so much time meeting the needs of others that we lose sight of what we need ourselves.

Life can be noisy, and we are often influenced by the opinions and expectations of family, friends, work and social media. Counselling offers a safe, confidential space where you can speak freely, reflect on your experiences and reconnect with what is important to you.

You don't need to be in crisis to come to counselling. Many people reach out because they want to understand themselves better, build confidence, manage stress and anxiety, improve relationships, or simply have a space where they can talk openly without fear of judgement.

Alongside my general counselling practice, I have particular experience supporting neurodivergent adults, including those with ADHD, and parents of neurodivergent children. I understand that experiences such as overwhelm, emotional intensity, self-doubt, navigating systems of support and balancing family demands can have a significant impact on day-to-day life. I offer a supportive space where these experiences can be explored with understanding and compassion.

At the heart of my work is the belief that when people feel safe, accepted and understood, meaningful change becomes possible.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I offer a free, informal 20-minute introductory call, giving us the opportunity to discuss what has brought you to counselling, answer any questions you may have, and explore whether working together feels right for you.

Sessions are 50 minutes long and are available on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

For online and telephone counselling, it is important that you have access to a quiet, private space where you feel able to speak openly and won't be interrupted. There is no expectation to prepare for sessions, although some people find it helpful to spend a little time reflecting beforehand on what they would like to bring to counselling.

Starting counselling can feel daunting, particularly if you are seeking support for the first time. My aim is to make the process feel as comfortable and approachable as possible, providing a welcoming space where you can be yourself and feel fully heard.
