About me
Hi, I'm Sarah. I offer short and long-term counselling for adults. The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my work. My approach reflects my personality - calm, compassionate, and genuine - with space for humour alongside gentle challenge.
You might already have a clear sense of what you need, or you may not know yet. Both are completely okay. Sessions with me provide a non-judgemental, empathetic space where you are supported to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and to discover your own way forward.
My professional and personal lived experience includes encompasses a range of issues, with particular focus on:
Anxiety; Low mood and depression; Anger; Low self-esteem
Grief and loss; Chronic illness
Relationship and family difficulties; Parenting (including new parenthood); Pregnancy and conception
Neurodivergence; Supporting family members with ADHD or autism; School avoidance
I trained as an integrative counsellor and primarily work from a person-centred perspective. This means I believe you are the expert on your own life and what you need. However, I understand that this internal voice can sometimes feel lost or silenced. Having someone alongside you to listen, validate, and support your process can make a real difference.
A little more about me…
I’ve lived in big cities but more recently felt drawn towards a quieter, more rural way of life. Outside of work, I enjoy pottering in the garden, growing vegetables to cook at home, and walking or (intermittently!) running in nature. I am a parent of two and have lived experience of supporting neurodivergent family members.
Training, qualifications & experience
In addition to Private Practice I have been a counsellor at a cancer support charity and a hospice, offering support to those experiencing bereavement, anticipatory grief, processing diagnosis and experiencing illness.
I have lengthy experience working within perinatal mental health charities - supporting parents facing emotional challenges before and after having a baby.
