About me

I offer a free 30-minute initial appointment to see what has brought you to take the big step of counselling, and to assess how best I can work with you. We can get to know one another and get a feel for whether we are a good fit.

As part of my training, I have undertaken my own extensive personal therapy and understand how difficult it can be taking the first step into making a counselling appointment, I am here to help you when feelings become uncomfortable or overwhelming

I am aware that talking doesn’t always come naturally for all of us and can adapt my approach to best suit your needs, incorporating various creative methods to help articulate feelings when appropriate.

For example, play is a natural activity of learning and communication, the medium has proved highly effective for helping children to 'play out' what they may find difficult to put into words, I also incorporate Minecraft, Sand tray and expressive arts into my practice.

Having extensive experience of working in schools and with other adult agencies, I have had the privilege of working with survivors of such issues as trauma, bereavement, abuse, relationship problems, low self-esteem, eating disorders, infertility (of which I have first-hand experience), anxiety, self-harm, dementia and depression. I also work with neurodivergent clients, separating the individual away from the diagnosis and learning to feel comfortable with your true self.

My approach is always non-judgemental, warm, kind, and respectful, I pride myself in being able to provide a safe space where clients will be listened to and feel heard.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the British Infertility Counselling Association (BICA)

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
