About me

Hi, I'm Sarah an experienced integrative therapist, working successfully with couples, adult individuals, as well young people over the age of 11.

I pride myself in my humanity - bringing warmth, honesty and real empathy into my therapeutic space, where clients will be listened to and feel heard.

I have extensive experience of working with a variety of agencies and schools, having the privilege of dealing with survivors of issues such as trauma, bereavement, abuse, relationship problems, low self-esteem, eating disorders, anxiety, self-harm, dementia and depression. I also work with neurodivergent clients.  My personal and family lived experience of neurodivergence helps me to understand how important it is to see the person beyond the diagnosis.  It supports my work in helping individuals feel safe to explore and embrace their authentic selves.

Throughout my life I have faced difficult challenges; I found personal therapy the most effective way to deal with these and help to get emotionally stronger. I do understand how difficult it can be to reach out for help, it is a brave step to open up to a stranger about personal and private struggles. I offer an introductory free 30-minute online or telephone appointment, we can get to know one another and get a feel for whether we are a good fit to work together on your particular issues.

Talking doesn’t always come naturally for everyone, so I adapt my approach to best suit my client’s needs, incorporating various creative methods to help with articulating difficult feelings.

For example, play is a natural activity of learning and communication, the medium has proved highly effective for helping 'play out' what can be  difficult to put into words, I also incorporate such media as Minecraft, Sand tray and expressive arts into my practice.

I have a special interest in infertility.  Having experienced infertility first hand,  I understand the unique emotional and relational challenges that couples can face on this heart breaking journey.  I believe that every relationship requires care, communication and ongoing effort, and with the right support, couples can grow stronger even in the most difficult situations.  Whether you are navigating infertility, dealing with loss, or feeling the strain that uncertainty brings, I provide a warm, non-judgemental, compassionate grounded space for both partners to feel heard and understood. I also work with two members of the same family, offering support to improve communication and strengthen the connection between them.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the British Infertility Counselling Association (BICA)

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
