Integrative Counsellor MBACP

About me

I’m an experienced Integrative Counsellor, working with a broad range of emotional challenges and mental health concerns. For those interested in technical terms, my approach is humanistic with a psychodynamic perspective, while also drawing on a variety of therapeutic strategies to help break problems down. But ultimately, what I hope you find in me is a real and compassionate person.

Much of my work centres on supporting people through periods of personal change, that might be adjusting to life after a loss, navigating midlife shifts, coping with redundancy or divorce, or searching for direction in early adulthood.

These times of transition can feel isolating, and it’s not uncommon for challenges such as anxiety, insomnia, OCD thoughts, or eating difficulties to surface or intensify.

I offer a supportive space to explore whatever it is that you're feeling. I believe that good therapy is about unlocking pain and difficulties, but also about gaining clarity and reconnecting with a sense of possibility.

Training, qualifications & experience

Alongside my private practice, I work as a freelance student counsellor, supporting young adults in higher education settings.

I also have several years’ experience in bereavement counselling within the charity sector, supporting individuals during periods of significant loss and change.

Safety and ethics are central to my practice. In an information-saturated world, I believe that informed wisdom matters more than ever. I keep this central to my practise and support clients in reconnecting with their own inner sense of wisdom to help them discover ways of living that feel more manageable.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
