About me
Hi, I'm Sarah and welcome. I aim to create a safe, non-judgemental, warm, compassionate space where you can explore your feelings, be seen and heard and work towards meaningful change.
As a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and a certified Couples Therapist, I support adult individuals and couples.
I help you work through emotional distress, with a focus upon healing relational trauma, low self-esteem, heartbreak, grief and being with you as you navigate major life transitions.
I take a holistic approach, and help you work through emotional blocks to gain insights which can uncover unhelpful patterns. Sometimes exclusively intellectualising or only talking about problems can keep us stuck in a rut, so I also use Gestalt and mindfulness tools to explore your body's own wisdom and this can help us to release past trauma as well as self-regulate our emotions and rebalance our nervous system.
With couples, I use Relational Life Therapy (RLT), an evidence-informed, practical and solutions-based system, empowering couples to resolve and repair recurring conflict. This method also helps couples:
- Communicate more openly and honestly
- Understand each others emotional needs
- Break negative cycles of blame and past trauma
- Strengthen emotional connection and intimacy
- Rebuild emotional safety and rekindle erotic desire
- Learn new relational skills
I welcome and value working with people from all walks of life. I'm committed to creating an inclusive space for clients of all cultural backgrounds, faiths (and no faith) and those within the LGBTQIA+ community.
I adhere to the ethical standards of the BACP and the Relational Life Institute, ensuring a safe, confidential and respectful therapeutic relationship.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a BACP-accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and a certified RLT Couples Therapist.
I am also an Integrative Coach & Mindfulness Teacher and so take a holistic approach.
And my work embraces people of all cultures, races, faiths, sexual orientations, offering an open, inclusive and safe space for profound healing.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
