Sara Gordon, MBACP, UUFdSc Counselling, Clinical Supervisor
Welcome to my counselling profile.
Counselling is a commitment, there is no getting around the fact it will require you to invest financially, emotionally and of course with your time.
I am a professional, qualified, integrative counsellor providing a counselling service in Glarryford, Ballymena. I have a purpose built private facility, which ensures client confidentiality and discretion from parking to appointment making your confidentiality assured. I follow all the current GPRD recommendations and beyond making sure you feel secure and safe when you attend me for your sessions.
I am passionate about counselling and the benefits which can be obtained from it. I am not a fan of jargon and technical terms, I feel they only confuse and create misunderstanding. I prefer to be real, genuine and understandable when working with clients and supervisees.
In 2007 my life was turned upside down when my husband died suddenly. I sought help from a variety of counsellors and agencies, some which helped a lot and some that I struggled to connect with. As I grieved and tried to make sense of my new life, and find solutions for myself and young children, I found good counselling made me feel supported, pro-active and empowered.
As a result of my successful counselling I decided to leave my job and re-train as a counsellor in order to help and empower others. Counselling has came a long way in 10 years, there have been advancements in counselling approaches and strategies and I am constantly working to keep my knowledge up to date with all the wonderful new techniques and styles that are helpful in providing clients with new levels of understanding.
In 2018, I successfully studied and completed CPCAB level 6 in Clinical Supervision. This qualifications allows me to support and enrich other counsellors with their client work in a one to one and group settings. In 2019 I have began lecturing with Northern Regional College on their level 4 counselling course on a part-time basis.
Currently I offer one to one client sessions addressing a variety of issues and problems, providing a confidential, comfortable, safe place for you to reflect and concentrate on yourself and your life experiences without judgement or pressure. I use elements from person centred, CBT and psychodynamic counselling approaches to tailor each session to meet your individual need.
I encourage you to move at your own pace and direct the sessions in the direction you feel most comfortable. I feel at the heart of successful therapy is the relationship between the client and counsellor. If you don't feel at ease with your counsellor it is time to find another one!
I offer counselling appointments in a rural location and also facilitate evening appointments. I offer immediate appointments where necessary. In certain circumstances with a background check and travel allowance, home visits can be arranged.
I am a member of the BACP and adhere to their guidelines regarding my practice and ethics.
When you call to arrange an appointment you will speak directly to me, we can arrange a time and place which is suitable to you. If you get the answer machine please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Alternatively you can email me securely on firstname.lastname@example.org.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
