About me

Welcome

Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, and I understand how difficult it can be to reach out for support. Whatever has brought you here, I offer a warm, accepting, and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, valued, and understood.

I am Sara Bryce, a Person-Centred Counsellor and registered member of the BACP. I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth and healing when given the right environment to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

Whether you are struggling with anxiety, trauma, addiction, relationship difficulties, loss, low self-esteem, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life's challenges, I will work alongside you at your own pace. Together, we can explore what is important to you, helping you gain greater self-awareness, clarity, and confidence in moving forward.

You do not have to face things alone.

My Approach

As a Person-Centred Counsellor, I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth, healing, and self-discovery when they are offered the right environment in which to explore their experiences.

At the heart of my work is the belief that you are the expert in your own life. Rather than giving advice or telling you what you should do, I will work alongside you, offering empathy, genuineness, and acceptance as we explore whatever is important to you.

I aim to create a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can speak openly and honestly about your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. My role is to listen carefully, seek to understand your unique perspective, and support you in finding your own way forward at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

I work remotely, allowing you to access counselling from a place where you feel safe and comfortable. Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is central to my practice, and I am committed to providing a warm and compassionate environment where you feel heard, valued, and accepted for who you are.

Whether you are experiencing anxiety, trauma, addiction, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, or other life challenges, I will meet you with respect, understanding, and without judgement. Together, we can explore your experiences, deepen self-awareness, and help you move towards a greater sense of wellbeing and personal growth.

My aim is for you to feel supported, empowered, and understood throughout your counselling journey.

"When we feel truly heard and accepted, positive change can begin."

Booking Sessions

Initial Session

Taking the first step towards counselling can feel both daunting and uncertain. That's why I offer a free initial consultation, giving us the opportunity to get to know one another in a relaxed and confidential space.

This initial session allows you to talk a little about what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions you may have, and gain a sense of how I work. It is also an opportunity for us to consider whether we feel we are the right fit to work together. Finding the right counsellor is an important part of the therapeutic process, and there is no pressure or commitment.

Confidentiality is central to my practice, and I am committed to creating a safe, accepting, and non-judgemental environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your experiences. We will work at a pace that feels right for you, ensuring that you remain in control of your counselling journey.

Online Counselling

I offer counselling remotely, allowing you to access support from a place where you feel comfortable and secure.

Sessions are available via:

  • Telephone.
  • Microsoft Teams using a secure private link

Remote counselling can offer flexibility and convenience while still enabling a meaningful therapeutic relationship to develop.

Training, qualifications & experience

Qualifications

I am a fully qualified Person-Centred Counsellor with a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

As a BACP member, I work within their Ethical Framework, which guides me to provide counselling in a safe, professional, and ethical manner. This means that I am committed to working with integrity, respecting confidentiality, promoting client autonomy, and placing your wellbeing at the heart of our work together.

To ensure that I provide the best possible support for my clients, I attend regular clinical supervision. Supervision is an essential part of ethical counselling practice, providing a dedicated space to reflect on my work, maintain professional standards, and ensure that clients receive safe and effective support.

I am also committed to ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and regularly undertake further training to develop my knowledge, skills, and understanding. This enables me to continue growing as a practitioner and to provide informed, up-to-date support to the people I work with.

Experience

I have extensive experience working as a counsellor within an agency supporting individuals affected by trauma and addiction. My work was grounded in a trauma-informed approach, recognising the impact that past experiences can have on emotional wellbeing, relationships, coping strategies, and day-to-day life.

Prior to becoming a counsellor, I was a qualified nurse and a member of the Royal College of Nursing for 15 years. My nursing career provided me with a wealth of transferable skills, including empathy, compassionate care, active listening, professional integrity, and supporting individuals through some of the most challenging periods of their lives.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
