About me

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I offer a FREE phone consultation to make sure you feel comfortable working with myself as a good working relationship is the key to successful therapy.

I have been qualified for 22 years & hold a Degree, Masters & Diploma in Psychology, Addictions & Counselling. I have also done a separate year qualification working with children & in supervision.
I am a qualified Supervisor to other Counsellors. I
work with children, adults & couples.
I run Mindworks Counselling, Wirral Counselling, Chester Counselling & Liverpool Counselling established.  10 counsellors work within the clinics. All with varying specialised areas. If I feel one of the other therapists has more expertise I will disclose this to you. As you may also want to have to chat to them.

I understand that looking for a counsellor can be a daunting process. I want to start by assuring you that whatever is causing you distress at the moment is something you can overcome. Sometimes talking through your concerns and being listened to can allow you to see things from a different perspective. It is often hard to do this on your own and counselling can help start this process of developing insight and self-awareness about your situation.I am a highly experienced psychotherapist, providing short and long term therapy. Whether you are in the midst of a crisis, experiencing indefinable feelings of dissatisfaction or seeking to focus on a specific issue, I provide a safe and confidential setting in which thoughts and feelings can be discussed - free from judgement or prejudice. Through our work together, I will help you find opportunities for transformation, better communication, freedom, greater insight and enhanced fulfilment.

I offer an approach that draws on a variety of perspectives and theories (humanistic, existential and analytic) depending on your needs and sensibilities. But regardless of the chosen theoretical framework, I believe the success of therapy is primarily dependent on a secure therapeutic relationship - developed through acceptance, trust and safety.

Having worked voluntary for the Samaritans whilst studying in University I decided counselling was the path for me. Many doctors are quick to throw medication without the alternative therapies that are proven can work just as well if not better. Many of the patients I see are on prescribed medication when they present alongside with the counselling the improvements can be felt and noticed quickly. Many Patients eventually coming off the medication. On average patients require 6 sessions.

I treat all concerns:

  • Relationship and sexual issues
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Addiction
  • Self-harm
  • OCD
  • Bullying
  • Confidence
  • Trauma
  • AbusE

What to expect and what I can offer

I appreciate the decision to begin therapy can evoke anxious feelings. This is completely natural and I will provide you with the space, time and support that you need to engage with your own story, in your own time and at your own pace.

Should you be interested in finding out more, please contact me for an initial phone assessment session in which we will explore what you hope to gain from therapy and address any questions or concerns you may have, all in the strictest confidence. Following this initial session, there is no obligation to continue with therapy, the decision will be solely yours to make.

Should you wish to proceed, we will then begin to meet for 50-minute sessions on a weekly basis.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
