About me

I am Saloume (Sally), a compassionate and qualified Integrative Counsellor registered with the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). At Inner Sparkle Counselling I offer warm, compassionate, in-person counselling for young adults (18-25) and adults in Finchampstead, near Wokingham, Berkshire, providing a calm and nurturing space where you can truly be yourself.

I believe that everyone deserves to feel heard, valued and understood, especially during times when life may feel overwhelming or difficult to navigate. My aim is to create a warm and trusting therapeutic relationship where you can begin to safely explore your experiences openly, knowing you will be met with empathy and acceptance in a non-judgemental and safe space.

There may be times in life when we find ourselves facing challenges that feel difficult to work through. You may be experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, grief, relationship difficulties or life changes that leave you feeling uncertain about yourself or the way forward.

Perhaps you have lost some confidence in yourself, feel caught in familiar patterns, or have spent so much time caring for others and meeting their expectations that your own needs have quietly taken a back seat. It may even feel difficult to recognise what you need anymore.

Whatever has brought you to counselling, you don't need to have all the answers or know exactly where to begin. Sometimes, taking that first step can feel difficult, and that's okay. There is no expectation to share everything at once or find the right words. We can gently explore things together, allowing space for whatever feels important to you.

Together, we can gently nurture greater self-awareness, explore ways of managing life's challenges and help you reconnect with your own needs, values and inner strengths, at a pace that feels right for you.

Having gained valuable experience supporting neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD and Autism, I'm able to provide a neurodiversity-affirming practice.

Training, qualifications & experience

My Approach

My integrative counselling approach draws from several therapeutic models, including:

  • Person Centred (PCT)
  • Psychodynamic
  • Transactional Analysis (TA)
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT)

This means I work collaboratively with each individual recognising that every person's experiences, challenges and strengths are unique.

Together, we can:

  • Explore your thoughts, emotions and life experiences.
  • Understand patterns in your Life.
  • Develop healthy coping strategies.
  • Build confidence and self-awareness at a pace that feels comfortable and safe.
  • Explore mindfulness and values-based actions.

Experience

My professional experience has been built across educational and community counselling settings, supporting individuals from adolescence through to adulthood.

As a Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Practitioner within a local secondary school, I have developed a strong understanding of emotional wellbeing and the impact of life's early experiences.

In my role as a College Counsellor at (Basingstoke College of Technology), I work therapeutically with late Adolescence and Adults/staff supporting a wide range of emotional and psychological needs.

Previously, I provided counselling within a not-for-profit community counselling service (Mindspace), offering both short-term therapy through GP 6 week referrals and longer-term Private counselling for Adults.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
