About me

I offer professional, in-person, weekly counselling from a relaxed, peaceful setting in central Norwich. I aim to support you with whatever you are facing - depression, anxiety, family issues, low self-esteem, life changes or other difficult feelings. I will be alongside you in a warm, safe, confidential space where you can explore what brings you here. This might include traumatic events from the past, current circumstances or fears about the future. There is no limit to what can be discussed.

What will happen in the counselling sessions?

I will listen attentively as you talk about your life and relationships, at a pace that suits you. The therapeutic relationship that develops will enable you to explore your early experiences, personality and the ways in which you relate to others. I will incorporate a range of different approaches which may help you make connections between the past and the present. You can ask questions at any point. You will have opportunities to reflect on how the counselling process is going.

What's in it for you?

Counselling can help towards an increased sense of wellbeing and a more fulfilling life, in a number of ways:

  • by feeling truly heard you may start to manage feelings differently
  • by gaining tools you may feel more in control of overwhelming emotions
  • by increasing self-awareness you may start to live more in the present rather than dwelling on the past or being fearful of the future
  • by having support you may be able to make changes where things feel unsatisfactory

It's important you find the right counsellor to work with

I understand how daunting it can feel to enquire about counselling. Please get in touch if you have any questions or to book an initial 30 minute exploratory appointment. Email or call 07903 742134.

Training, qualifications & experience

BSc (Hons) Degree Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling - Middlesex University (UKCP recognised)

Advanced Diploma Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling - Matrix College (UKCP recognised)

My experience includes, though is not limited to, working with:

  • anxiety, depression and other difficulties
  • trauma and PTSD
  • grief, loss and bereavement
  • neurodivergence (ADHD; Autism)
  • physical, emotional and sexual abuse
  • decision-making, change and finding purpose in life

In addition to private practice I have volunteered for a low-cost counselling charity in Norwich, working with clients from all backgrounds.

Before training to be a counsellor I worked in education. I have a BA (Hons) in English Literature and a PGCE (Secondary English) from the London Institute of Education. I have many years' experience working with students, their families and other agencies.

I have an MA in Creative Writing (UEA) and - if clients are interested - can offer creative ways of working within the therapeutic relationship such as using poems, postcards, figures and other materials. This can feel less confrontational and be a more playful way of working.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
