About me
Hi, I’m Dr Sally McVicar, and I’m here to help you work through life’s tough moments. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, past trauma, or just need a space to talk things out, I offer a warm and supportive environment where you can feel heard and understood. My approach combines techniques like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness to help you feel more in control and find practical ways to move forward. If you’re looking to understand yourself better, manage stress, or make lasting changes, I’d love to support you on your journey.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist (PYL30255), having qualified in 2013 from Glasgow University. I am trained in a range of therapeutic models and use an integrated approach to match therapy to the needs of clients. I am also a member of the Association of Clinical Psychologists UK (ACP-UK) and regularly attend training events to ensure my work continues to be evidence based and current
I specialise in supporting adults and older adults through life’s toughest moments-whether it’s dealing with mental illness, a new diagnosis, adjusting to changes, or coping with complex grief. I also work with people going through health-related challenges, offering tailor made psychological interventions to manage emotional and mental well-being. I also work with carers supporting a loved one with life changing diagnoses, and have particular expertise in assessment for dementia. I use psychological models and compassion to help develop understanding on how cognitive impairments impact on clients and their loved ones.
I’m here to offer support, empathy, and practical tools to help you move forward.
