About me
Choose Wellness - Person-Centred Counselling and Mindfulness
Hello and welcome!
My journey into counselling has been shaped by my own life experiences and personal growth. Navigating challenges in my own life helped me understand how important it is to feel truly heard, supported, and accepted. These experiences inspired me to train as a counsellor so that I could offer others a safe and compassionate space to explore what they are going through and move towards a more fulfilled and happier life.
I am a fully qualified Level 5 counsellor and a qualified and experienced mindfulness practitioner.
My main qualification is a postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Level 5, University of Wrexham.
I am working within the ethical guidelines of the NCPS (National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society) and I am registered with the Mindfulness Teachers Association.
How I work?
I use the person-centred approach to counselling which means that I always value and affirm your experience. This gentle, client-centred way offers a calm, non-judgemental environment that invites you to talk openly at your own pace.
During our sessions, you will have my full attention. I will listen to you with respect and empathy and without any judgement whilst you explore your difficult emotions and experiences.
I work within professional and ethical boundaries and provide a safe, confidential and supportive space where you can work through whatever you wish, no matter what you choose to reveal.
Mindfulness and nature connection are woven into my approach, as these have played a meaningful role in supporting my own wellbeing. I can draw on other therapeutic approaches if I feel this would benefit you.
When appropriate, I may gently introduce grounding or mindfulness-based practices to help you develop greater self-awareness, emotional balance, and a deeper sense of connection with yourself and the world around you.
I believe that you know yourself better than anyone else and that you have the inner resources to deal with your difficulties. I see the counselling process as a collaboration between us with you taking the lead regarding content and direction of the sessions.
Therefore, I will not tell you what to do but will provide warm support and companionship which is based on my extensive training and experience working with a wide range of issues and also with people who may simply feel down or as if they have 'lost their way'.
What to expect in the first session?
If you’re wondering what to expect in a first session, it is simply an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We can talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you are hoping for, and any questions or concerns you may have. There is no pressure to share more than you feel ready to, and sessions are always guided by what feels right for you.
I also offer a free 15-minute initial conversation, giving you the chance to see whether we might be a good fit. This is a relaxed, no-obligation space to ask questions and get a sense of how I work. There is absolutely no pressure to continue with therapy — finding the right counsellor is important, and your comfort and choice are always respected.
Taking the first step into counselling can feel daunting, and my aim is to make this process feel as safe, supportive, and reassuring as possible.
My sessions take place online or face-to-face in our counselling room at the Well Street Clinic in Ruthin.
The confinements of a counselling room does not suit every client. Therefore, I am happy to offer walk-and-talk therapy. Please let me know if this is something you would prefer.
To gain the most benefit from counselling and to establish a professional and trusting relationship, regular weekly sessions are recommended initially. We will review your progress which will allow us to determine the course of therapy.
If this feels like a good fit for you, I welcome you to reach out and take the next step when you feel ready.
