MBACP Person-Centred Counsellor

About me

Counselling and therapy as a whole can sometimes be a daunting prospect. Choosing a therapist in the first instance can be difficult in itself. The fact that you have chosen to take steps towards caring for your own well-being and acknowledging that it is not always possible to cope with life's strains on your own is the first step towards making powerful, lasting changes.

The counselling process is something very personal, which belongs to you and you only. It is an opportunity to contemplate aspects of your life which you may be finding difficult to manage or are struggling to overcome. Counselling allows you the space and time needed to fully explore these thoughts and emotions in a calm and supportive environment.

Together, we will look at how you perceive the world, both emotionally and intellectually, with the aim of discovering and creating new ways to approach situations with increased self-confidence and with a greater sense of control.

I realise it’s not always easy to be able to accept and explore inner fears and anxieties, and it takes courage to do so. We will approach this together, at your own pace, with you at the heart of the process, whatever the outcome

Online Counselling (Zoom)

Receiving Counselling from your home, in a familiar, comfortable environment, is a convenient way to partake in the therapeutic process. Online Counselling will give you the opportunity to experience therapy when meeting face to face is just not possible. Time restrictions, family obligations or life expectations are all factors that may hinder the possibility of starting therapy. Online counselling could be the solution to offset these obstacles.

I offer a safe and trusting environment for clients to feel they are able to explore their unique perspective of the world in a calm and pragmatic way. My career to date has given me the invaluable experience needed to fully understand what is required to be an effective, attentive counsellor.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
