About me
Hello, I'm Ryan Blake, a BACP-registered Integrative Psychotherapist working with adults both online and in person.
I provide a warm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever is affecting your wellbeing. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, stress, overwhelm, low mood, relationship difficulties, life transitions, or simply feeling stuck, therapy can offer an opportunity to better understand yourself and find a way forward.
As an integrative psychotherapist, I believe therapy should be tailored to the individual. Every person brings their own experiences, strengths, challenges, and goals, so I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches to create a therapeutic experience that meets your unique needs.
Many of the people I work with are navigating the pressures and uncertainties of modern life. Work demands, relationships, family responsibilities, financial concerns, and the constant expectation to keep going can leave us feeling exhausted, disconnected, or unsure of what comes next. Together, we can explore these challenges, develop greater self-awareness, and build practical strategies for creating meaningful and lasting change.
I welcome clients from all backgrounds and identities and provide an LGBTQ+ affirming and inclusive environment. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that lasting change often begins through understanding ourselves more deeply and developing new ways of responding to life's difficulties.
I offer therapy both online and in person and am committed to building a therapeutic relationship based on trust, honesty, and genuine collaboration.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold an MSc in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
In addition to my core psychotherapy training, I have undertaken further training in Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Schema Therapy. These approaches inform my work and allow me to tailor therapy to each client's individual needs and goals.
I have a particular interest in behavioural and relational approaches to therapy, especially Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP). FAP focuses on helping people create meaningful change through the therapeutic relationship itself, supporting clients to develop greater awareness, authenticity, emotional connection, and flexibility in their daily lives.
I have extensive experience working with adults in both charitable and private practice settings, supporting clients experiencing anxiety, stress, overwhelm, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, emotional challenges, life transitions, and the pressures of modern life.
My clinical experience includes behavioural assessment, clinical formulation, risk assessment, safeguarding, and treatment planning. I work collaboratively with clients to develop a deeper understanding of their difficulties, identify patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and explore practical and meaningful ways forward.
Alongside my therapeutic work, I have supported trainee therapists and psychotherapy students in developing clinical formulations and therapeutic skills, contributed to service development projects, and delivered training on integrating Schema Therapy with behavioural approaches.
Before qualifying as a psychotherapist, I spent many years working in education, teaching and supporting young people and adults. This experience strengthened my understanding of personal development, communication, learning, and the challenges people face throughout different stages of life.
I am committed to ongoing professional development and regularly engage in further training, supervision, and reflective practice to ensure my work remains ethical, effective, and responsive to the needs of my clients.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
In addition to the areas listed elsewhere on my profile, I have experience supporting clients with confidence issues, emotional regulation difficulties, decision-making challenges, assertiveness and boundary-setting, academic stress, personal development, and existential concerns relating to meaning, purpose, identity, and life direction.
I also work with clients who experience difficulties expressing or managing anger and other strong emotions, helping them develop greater awareness of their emotional responses and find healthier, more effective ways of communicating their needs.
Many of these challenges can be connected to the wider pressures of modern life, relationships, work, study, and personal expectations. My aim is to help clients develop greater self-understanding, resilience, and flexibility in responding to life's difficulties.

Further information
I believe that therapy is more than simply talking about problems. While understanding the past can be valuable, I am also interested in helping clients develop practical, meaningful change in the present.
My approach combines reflection, self-understanding, and evidence-based therapeutic techniques within a genuine and collaborative therapeutic relationship. I aim to create a space where clients can feel accepted, challenged when helpful, and supported in moving towards the life they want to build.
