About me

Hello.  I am an Accredited Psychotherapist/Counsellor and an Accredited EMDR Practitioner.  I also have a qualification in Trauma Therapy and Life Coaching.  I have worked in mental health for 10 years and have a Private Practice in Sevenoaks.   I also work with the London Fire Brigade as a Trauma Counsellor.  My previous employment has been with a Homicidal Bereavement Agency, supporting people who have lost their loved ones through homicide and as a Trauma Lead in a local NHS mental health service.

My client work is varied and  includes complex trauma, personality disorder issues, work related stress, bereavement and loss, depression, low self-esteem and confidence, relationship issues and anxiety.   Any mental health issue from child abuse to bereavement I treat with respect and in confidence.  Nobody need suffer the debilitating effects of a troubled mind in whatever form that takes.  Your mental health is just as important as your physical health.

Our work begins with establishing a supportive and trusting relationship and I work holistically to offer my clients the most relevant treatment to their situation.  My client base includes teens to older adults and couples.

My experience and training allows me to offer you the most appropriate method of therapy, as one size does not fit all.

Psychotherapy - A talking based therapy to explore deeper past issues affecting the present.

Counselling  -  A therapy to talk through difficult  issues and reactions in your everyday life.

CBT  -  A solution based therapy to adjust and challenge thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

CBT Trauma Focused Therapy - A talking/exposure based treatment to target specific disturbing feelings in relation to past traumatic or overwhelming events.

EMDR  -  A trauma focused treatment for single or multiple trauma, approved by the NHS for the treatment of trauma/PTSD and other presentations such as phobias, anxiety etc.

Life Coaching  -  A supportive and exploratory method to introduce new and healthy ways of living.

If there has been a time when you have experienced an emotionally overwhelming event or events in the past or present, I can help you move on from this.

If you are struggling with every day life and feel a sense of chaos, lack of clarity and insecurity - get help.

Whatever your experience, you have a fundamental right as a human being to live without burden or baggage - so whatever you want to share and explore, I offer a safe, supportive and confidential space to help you understand and change.  Part of our work together is the restoration of happiness and harmony in yourself and your environment.

My sessions are offered on a weekly or fortnightly basis.  The first appointment is your opportunity to decide if you think the therapy I offer is suitable for you and if you feel comfortable working with me - which is a crucial part of the process.

The benefits are very personal and therefore extensive, but  below will give you an idea of some of the areas that can be addressed:

Personal Growth
Self Awareness
Healing Troubled Emotions

Increased Confidence
Release of unhelpful beliefs
Discovering solutions
Putting the past behind you
Dealing with a traumatic past

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
