About me

I am a Pluralistic Counsellor. I offer counselling services that fit your current need. I work with you to discover a plan and strategy personalised to you, your life and your needs. I offer empathetic support, providing knowledge of coping strategies when negative thoughts or anxiety arises, supporting you through challenging relational obstacles in your personal life and career, all while encouraging you to examine points of view, stretching your own personal mindsets. This could mean applying personal plans, goals and strategies into your life that could positively impact you now and in the future.

My past clients and have sent me testimonies:

"Ruth is very supportive, practical and a professional. I recommend her."

"Ruth listens intently, shows passion to support me, and has shown me multiple ways to keep my anxiety in check."

"I have done 4 phone sessions with Ruth. She is a very good therapist. She listened to me, understood me and helped me. I always left her session feeling good about myself. Highly recommend."

Some of my key strengths are my communication skills (relational and genuine), the ability to quickly assess all aspects of a situation, offering insight, reflective space and differing perspectives. I work collaboratively with my clients to tailor-make their therapeutic journey.

I work with all age ranges of clientele through one-to-one sessions or group sessions remotely via Zoom Video calls and telephone calls.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I feel passionately about my career in helping others on their journeys through life. Through my own trials and tribulations, I feel my level of expertise in my academic studies is hugely complimented by my life experiences.

A little about myself, I have a Canadian accent though I am originally from the UK. My parents being Welsh and English and working in the forces made for an interesting childhood with a vast amount of travelling. This experience enabled me to meet a lot of people over the years and helped me in understanding different cultures, religions and perspectives people hold.

I work relationally and Person-centered and I usually aim to provide tasks, research, or reflective questions for you to go and dig through in preparation for our next session.
