BA (Hons) BACP Integrative Counselling & Holistic Therapy

About me

I'm an integrative therapist with over 15 years of experience of helping individuals deal with substantial life events and cope with complex mental health issues. These include depression, anxiety, relationship issues, questions around identity, issues with confidence and self-esteem, feelings of hopelessness, bereavement, and panic attacks.

I have 8 years of experience working as a holistic therapist which allows me to offer additional therapies to my clients to help with you with stress, burn out, overwhelm and relaxation. In addition to private practice, I also work with NHS staff, taking a solution focused approach to their mental health and wellbeing and helping to shift their mindset.

My therapeutic practice of thinking is informed by several widely recognised approaches. I can use a variety of therapy models to help you including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person Centred Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, NLP, Motivational Interviewing and Wellbeing Coaching.

There are times in everybody's life when things feel too much, or we attach too unhelpful and destructive patterns of relating/behaviour. During times of distress, counselling and psychotherapy can be, literally, a life saver. Therapy offers an exciting and challenging space for personal exploration, growth and development. You may be experiencing a specific, or range of issue and feel as though you're having a tough time, or you might have a general curiosity and want to understand yourself better.

  • Are you scared of difficult dark moments that may unravel? Or are you worried about gently peeling back, the layers or discussing issues that you have held onto for so long?
  • Do you feel trapped in your mind and absorbed by these constant storms of feelings? Which can make you feel disconnected from the world.
  • Do you have struggles eating and getting to sleep? This is a problem where you overthink and analyse your thoughts, causing you to struggle to switch off.

I really do believe that you oversee your own destiny, I am not here to fix you or tell you what to do. I will listen to what is impacting you and work in collaboration with you to find out what is happening to you or if you want to make changes how you these changes can happen.

The aim of counselling

It is to provide a safe and confidential space in which to explore your concerns and feelings, or to reflect on the issues which are affecting you. Counselling will create an accepting and non-judgemental environment, where you can be helped to discover what might be the underlying causes of your unhappiness or anxiety. You can work out ways of living more effectively and achieve a greater sense of well-being, all of which will free you to lead a fuller and rewarding life.

Counselling is a process by which you and your therapist can develop a unique, confidential, supportive relationship. Having someone to talk to can be an effective way of enabling you to take control of your life, work out what is making you feel stuck, overcome whatever issues are impacting negatively on you and move forward. The privacy and confidentiality of the therapy can provide the opportunity to talk about thoughts and feelings which you might otherwise feel unable to share. I believe that the relationship between the therapist and the client is what makes it such an effective catalyst approach for change or excepting the here and now.

Please feel free to contact me with any queries and I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
