About me

I'm Rosie, a qualified psychodynamic counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, particularly if you're used to managing things on your own. You may be struggling with anxiety, relationship difficulties, bereavement, low self-esteem or perhaps feeling overwhelmed without fully understanding why.

Sometimes we find ourselves repeating familiar patterns in our relationships or responding to situations in ways that are difficult to make sense of.

I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space where we can talk and think together about whatever is troubling you, at a pace that feels right for you.

My approach is psychodynamic, which means we can explore how past experiences and relationships may influence how you feel about yourself and others today. Developing a greater understanding of these connections can help you recognise patterns, make sense of difficult feelings and begin to find new ways forward.

I offer both short-term and long-term counselling, although I particularly value the opportunity for deeper exploration that longer-term work can offer.

I work with adults face-to-face in Stevenage, Hertford and Wheathampstead, as well as online.

Sessions are 50 minutes and cost £65.

If you're considering counselling, please feel free to get in touch. We can think together about whether working together feels right for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and have completed further post-qualification training in Advanced Clinical Skills in Contemporary Psychodynamic Counselling

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and work in accordance with their Ethical Framework.

My clinical experience includes working with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, trauma and the lasting impact of difficult childhood experiences.

My additional training has developed my understanding of attachment, trauma-informed practice, emotional regulation and the ways in which our experiences can affect both mind and body.

Alongside my private practice, I have gained valuable clinical experience through The Counselling Foundation, working with clients experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.

I attend regular clinical supervision and undertake continuing professional development to deepen my understanding and support my work with clients.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information

I offer individual counselling sessions for adults, both face-to-face and online.

I offer a free 15-minute introductory telephone call, giving you an opportunity to ask any questions and briefly discuss what has brought you to counselling. It's also a chance for us to get a sense of whether working together feels right for you, with no obligation to book.

Sessions last 50 minutes and cost £65.

I offer both short-term and long-term counselling, with sessions usually taking place weekly at an agreed time. This provides a regular and consistent space for us to work together.

Payment is requested following each session and is due before our next appointment.

As your weekly appointment time is reserved specifically for you, missed or cancelled sessions are chargeable. Planned holidays and breaks can be discussed in advance.

If you have any questions about fees or availability, please feel free to get in touch.

Further information

Having spent much of my working life in a profession centred around people, I have always valued the importance of listening, building relationships and creating a space where people feel comfortable being themselves. This experience has shaped the way I relate to others and continues to influence my work as a counsellor.

I recognise that reaching out for counselling isn't always easy. It can feel vulnerable sitting opposite someone you've never met and beginning to talk about things that may be deeply personal. You might feel unsure where to begin, what to say or even whether counselling is right for you.

Our first session is an opportunity for us to meet, talk about what has brought you to counselling and begin to get a sense of what you might need. There is no expectation to share everything straight away, and you don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to talk about.

I believe that feeling comfortable and developing trust within the counselling relationship is an important part of the process. I won't offer advice or tell you what you should do, but instead offer a space where we can explore your thoughts and feelings together, with curiosity and without judgement.

Over time, you may begin to develop a deeper understanding of yourself, your relationships and the experiences that have shaped you. This can create opportunities for change, greater self-awareness and a different way of relating to yourself and others.

Above all, I hope to offer a space where you feel heard, understood and able to bring whatever is on your mind.
