About me

Seeking therapy can feel very daunting but you've made a huge step by being here and reading this.

I approach my work as a therapist with sincere humility and curiosity. I want to hear your story and your experiences and how they have shaped you. Perhaps you feel stuck in unhelpful thought processes and behaviours. Have you experienced abuse, trauma, bereavement and loss, bullying, hardship and it has left you feeling like you're "going mad", insecure and feeling a little lost in life. Maybe you are struggling with -

  • Anxiety
  • Family/relationship issues
  • Low self-esteem
  • depression
  • stress
  • Grief

Are you unsure of where to turn or you are struggling to understand how this is happening to you leaving you feeling lonely and isolated. This is where I come in.

I'm here to help you process your lived experiences so you can feel freer from their grip.

My approach

My first aim is to create a bond so you can feel safe and relaxed. I understand that disclosing painful emotions and experiences can be very difficult.

We will spend time talking openly and honestly, at a pace that feels comfortable to you and without judgement. The ability to talk freely is very therapeutic and even though we may have friends and family to talk to, we often withhold certain feelings or details for fear of judgement or upset.

If it feels appropriate, we can introduce some Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which is a more action-oriented approach to my work with clients. We will look at -

  • Mindfulness - being present.
  • Allowing difficult thoughts to come and go.
  • Learning to understand our thoughts are not absolute truths.
  • Identifying our values and choosing a direction in life that reflects these.

This approach helps to identify meaningful ways of moving forward and support you with building a more compassionate relationship with yourself and finding greater peace and fulfilment in life.

I have had particular success with my male clients using this technique as I have observed that often, some men seem to like this more focused approach once we have spent the time unpacking and discussing their emotions and lived experiences. Every client is different so I offer a tailored approach to reflect this. Each session is for you and we will collaborate to use the time as effectively as possible.

If you would like to find out more about how I can help you please get in touch. I do offer a free 20 minute phone consultation so I can get a feel for what has brought you to therapy but I do urge you to take the plunge and book a session so we can meet face to face.

Thanks so much for reading.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
