About me
Only you will know when it’s time to talk, and when that time comes, I’m here to listen. While speaking to family and friends can be helpful, talking to a counsellor offers a space that is just for you, without judgement, pressure, or expectation. A space where you can explore things more openly, even the thoughts and feelings that may be hard to share elsewhere.
You don’t have to have it all figured out before you come to counselling and in fact, most people don’t. You might just know that something isn’t sitting right. You may feel anxious, flat, overwhelmed, stuck, or quietly unhappy.
At the heart of my work is you: understanding what you need and working to your goals in a space that feels calm, safe and accepting. I work to create a space where you don’t have to perform, explain yourself perfectly, or hold it all together, and one where you feel properly heard. This is when things often begin to shift.
Alongside empathy, I bring curiosity and pragmatism. I’ll gently help you explore what’s going on underneath your thoughts, emotions and patterns, and when you are ready, we can look at what might help you move forward in real, practical ways. Insight is powerful, but action matters too. We’ll work at your pace, but we won’t stay stuck in endless reflection if what you really need is clarity and direction.
I see counselling as a partnership. You are the expert on your life. My role is to listen carefully, be curious, help you notice patterns, and support you to identify the steps that feel right for you. Sometimes that means untangling old experiences. Sometimes it means building confidence to make a decision. Sometimes it simply means having space to get things off your chest.
I believe most of us don’t need fixing; we need space, understanding, and support to reconnect with our own strengths. Growth doesn’t come from being judged. It comes from being understood.
If you’re looking for a therapist who combines warmth with thoughtful challenge, reflection with practical next steps, and who will treat you as an equal partner in the process, we may work well together.
You don’t have to do this on your own.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified person-centred counsellor, holding a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. My training focused on creating a safe, non-judgemental therapeutic relationship where clients feel heard and understood, and where meaningful change can grow.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), Membership No. 01011948, Registration No. 417713. This means I work in line with the BACP Ethical Framework, maintaining clear professional standards, confidentiality, and ongoing supervision and professional development.
I completed continuining professional devleopment training in Trauma-informed practice through Counselling Tutor in April 2026.
Alongside my counselling qualification, I hold a PhD in genetics and previously worked in scientific research.
My wider experience includes volunteering as a listening volunteer with the Samaritans, and career mentoring and coaching for scientists.
Together, this blend of therapeutic training, scientific background, and real-world listening experience allows me to offer a grounded, compassionate and thoughtful approach to counselling.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
