About me
Hi, I'm Risto. I appreciate you being here!
I offer a thoughtful, conversation-based space for adults who want to understand themselves more clearly. My work is well suited to people who are reflective by nature and who value insight and depth, yet find themselves stuck in patterns that thinking alone hasn’t resolved.
People often come with anxiety, work-related stress, overthinking, difficulty managing emotions, procrastination, or habits that don’t feel aligned with their values or goals. Others are navigating life transitions or broader questions of direction, purpose and meaning. Sometimes the issue is clear; sometimes it is simply a sense that something needs attention.
Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we look at underlying patterns: how you relate to pressure, avoidance, responsibility, ambition, or uncertainty. Therapy becomes a space to slow down, think clearly, and make deliberate changes.
I work online with adults across the UK. Sessions are collaborative and follow your pace. I will not direct or interpret unless it feels useful. I will also bring in metaphors, stories, or brief insights from psychology, literature and philosophy when it can support your process.
Please note that currently I am only able to offer short-term counselling (4-8 weeks).
If this way of working resonates, you are welcome to get in touch for a free 15-minute consultation to see if we're a good fit.

Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Master's Degree in Integrative Counselling and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, and have over five years of experience across a range of mental health settings.
Alongside private practice, I have worked as a volunteer therapist with Age UK, Abbey Road and The Mix, supporting people across different life stages and presenting concerns. I have also supported people with learning disabilities.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (mBACP).
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
