About me

"Where talk exists, so does hope" - Matt Haig.

Hope Counselling Guernsey is a professional and confidential counselling service that provides a safe space for you to explore areas of your life that you are struggling with or wish to improve on.

My name is Rebekah, and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) offering counselling to individuals.

I believe that people matter, and I am passionate about my role as a counsellor. I wholeheartedly believe in the power of talking and have witnessed the positive impact of this both in my personal and professional life. Therefore, it is my goal to encourage others to begin this journey for themselves, working with them side-by-side enabling them to develop a better awareness of self and of others.

I genuinely believe that we all have the potential and ability to lead fulfilling lives and move towards positive change and growth, if this is what we truly desire.

Do you relate to one or more of the questions below?

Are you finding that you are constantly irritable but not sure what the cause is?
Are you struggling with feelings of low self-worth and self-esteem?
Do you feel that your emotions are out of control and disproportionate?
Do you judge yourself too harshly and/or are afraid of failure?
Do you find yourself being uninterested in things that used to interest you?
Do you find it difficult to control your thoughts?
Are you finding it hard to cope after a relationship breakdown?
Are your thoughts taken over by negative self-talk?
Do you feel hopeless and/or helpless?
Are you feeling in a constant state of overwhelm?
Do you struggle to with anxiety and fear around what others may think of you?
Are you struggling to cope with a loss or a life transition?
Do you feel like nobody understands you and what you are going through?
Are you experiencing difficulties in a significant relationship?
Do you experience anxiety and panic attacks?
Are you experiencing prolonged periods of sadness?
Do you find it particularly hard to trust others?
Are there feelings of emptiness and disconnection from the world and the people around you?
Are there areas of your life that you recognise you struggle with, but you don't know why or how to change that?
Are struggling finding a solution of your own to an issue?

Did any of these questions above stand out for you? If so, I believe counselling could be beneficial for you.

Please feel free to get in contact and arrange a free 20-minute initial consultation session to explore how counselling can help you.

Session details

I offer face to face counselling and online counselling from my consulting room which is located in the Vale.

I believe that is important that you feel comfortable about working together therefore I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation session. This session allows us to talk through your needs and expectations of therapy and ask any questions you may have.

Further sessions are 50 minutes and there is no limit to sessions offered.

Training, qualifications & experience

I started my counselling training in 2014 and I hold a COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills, a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies and a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

I am now undertaking the Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) Intensive Training Course.

I have 6 years experience working in support related roles, both in the UK and Guernsey. Following this I spent 2 years working as a counsellor in the voluntary sector, both during my training and once I had qualified. The experience and knowledge I gained from this inspired me to start up in private practice in 2021.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
