About me

Sometimes, life can feel like a complete whirlwind - and can leave us feeling exhausted and disconnected from ourselves and how we feel. You might be facing some big life changes, illness or loss - and feel that in the process of trying to keep going, how you really feel is sitting on the back burner. Perhaps you feel worried about talking to friends and family, or feel the people in your life may not understand.

Counselling with me can offer you a space, removed from your own life, to talk about how things are feeling right now. I am not here to rush or judge you. Our sessions give you space to take your time and tune into what's really going on for you. I am here to listen; you deserve to be heard.

As a person-centred counsellor, I invite my clients to explore what they might be feeling, at their own pace, and in a way that feels right for them. I am not a ‘one-size-fits-all’ counsellor. Instead, I am a true believer in the power of us building a supportive relationship and working together to come to what counselling could look like for you.

I currently hold sessions via the online platform Zoom, with a view to moving to an in-person space in Cheshire East soon.

To arrange a free initial 15-minute chat via telephone, or find out more about my practice, contact me via email - beckymellorpsychotherapy@outlook.com. You can also contact me using the contact form here on counselling directory.

Training, qualifications & experience

My Qualifications:

  • MSC Counselling and Psychotherapy (Distinction)
  • Graduate Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • MA Linguistics
  • BA (Hons) Linguistics

I built my therapeutic experience within the NHS, offering counselling to clients within Macmillan Cancer Support at Leighton Hospital. I have experience working with a wide range of clients, aged 18-100, and am passionate about hearing about the person behind the circumstances someone might be facing - giving them space to voice how they truly feel.

Within my Private Practice, I continue to support individuals affected by illness as well as loss and other life changes. I am also deeply passionate about working alongside clients seeking support with stigmatised reproductive health experiences such as abortion/termination. I am a fiercely pro-choice practitioner, committed to giving clients the space to explore how their experience truly feels for them, whatever their circumstances may be.

I am also a guest lecturer at Keele University - and have facilitated workshops and taught sessions for trainee counsellors relating to;

Loneliness
Counselling Research
Abortion/Termination, Miscarriage and Baby Loss

I work with trainees, adults and older adults.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
