UKCP (MSc) Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor

About me

Hello, I am Rebecca and I am a UKCP registered Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor. I hope that you will find me warm, welcoming and validating.

What to expect in your first session:

Your initial fifty minutes assessment/ introductory session will help you to decide if I am the right therapist for you and provide you with the opportunity to establish a sense of how I can help you . It will provide me with the opportunity to discover your aims of therapy and what you would like me to help you with. We can set goals together and revisit these throughout the therapy to check for change and progress.

How can Psychotherapy or Counselling help?

I am a firm believer that the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of facilitating change and promoting healing. I can help you to reflect on your current life situation and encourage your making of kinder self choices and initiating long term change. I can support you in moving away from long established unhelpful behaviours, in order to facilitate comfort and stability. I offer a non- judgemental, empathic and confidential space in which you can speak freely and address challenging feelings and experiences. You may have a new personal difficulty that has occurred or you may be battling historical events and feelings. I can assist you with processing these and in building interventions to help ease the burden.

My specialities:

My integrated approach focuses on helping you to develop a stronger sense of self and in getting to know your true self better. I combine several different theories which I will tailor to reflect your specific needs. I like to work towards helping you to reintegrate parts of yourself that may have been missed or been unacknowledged for a while.

I have nearly seven years' experience of helping with a variety of different problems, including all types of anxiety and trauma, both current and historical, and management of chronic illness and loss.   I have an interest in addressing childhood developmental gaps, and have experience relating to issues of self harming and suicidal ideation. Please see below for areas of counselling that I have experience in. I am here to help you cope with daily challenges and to facilitate better self care and self compassion.

I am happy to offer short term therapy to help you manage a specific event or trauma, or to offer long term therapy to allow us to explore your troubling issues in depth. This will hopefully facilitate you really getting to know yourself inside and out, and promote long term change for you.

Further information

I will offer the opportunity for you to feel emotionally safe and validated at all times. I am honest and may challenge you to explore your true self at times, in order to encourage disclosure and thus facilitate a healthy and positive shift in mood and way of being. I like to give you the tools and confidence for you to respectfully promote change for yourself, and to tailor your experience of interacting with others and your environment.

My way of working online from home enables greater accessibility for those who  find it challenging to leave their homes, for whatever reason, and ensures that there is the opportunity for inclusivity, regardless of the challenging circumstances that you may face.

The presence of my lovely therapy dog, Stewie, brings a sense of calm and comfort to the room, which hopefully helps to enrich your  therapeutic experience, regardless of being online.
