Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and have gained extensive experience in the field of mental health and well-being over the past several years. My professional background includes five years of experience working in substance misuse, supporting individuals on their journey to recovery through therapeutic interventions. Additionally, I have five years of experience working with young adults, addressing a range of emotional and psychological challenges, and one year of experience working in the field of domestic abuse, providing support to those affected by abusive relationships.
To enhance my professional development and deepen my understanding of key psychological concepts, I have engaged in ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD). This includes:
The Psychology of Rumination. Exploring the processes behind repetitive negative thinking and its impact on mental health.
Soothing Anxiety with ADHD. Understanding the unique ways anxiety presents in individuals with ADHD and effective strategies for support.
How Trauma Affects the Body. Examining the physiological and neurological effects of trauma and how this informs therapeutic practice.
The science of OCD and obsessive thoughts.
Understanding of obsessive-compulsive disorder and the challenges it presents. This training has enhanced my ability to support individuals struggling with intrusive thoughts, compulsions, and the impact OCD can have on daily life.
Talking with bereaved people. Giving me the skills to offer compassionate, non-judgemental support to those experiencing grief and loss.
My commitment to professional growth ensures that I continue to provide effective, compassionate, and informed support to those I work with.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
