About me

Hello and welcome to Fulcrum Counselling and Coaching Practice. I have been practicing as a counsellor since 2010.  I work in a confidential, understanding and non-judgemental way, creating a safe and trusting environment for you to explore your thoughts, emotions, behaviours and goals whilst respecting your uniqueness. I aim to create awareness and choice for you to experience a happier and more satisfying way of living.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their ethical framework. I am insured and undertake regular supervision, training and my own personal therapy.

I can work in the short term which is helpful when focusing on a single issue and in the longer term which can allow deeper awareness to be made.

I practice from The Haven, near Rudgwick in West Sussex which is within easy access from Cranleigh, Horsham, Billingshurst, Godalming, Crawley and Guildford.

Please contact me to book an initial session or if you have any questions.

Best wishes,

Training, qualifications & experience

I began my training as a humanistic counsellor in 2009. I have worked in both charities and private practice for many years and have gained lots of experience during this time working with a wide range of people and issues.

Humanistic therapy uses a holistic, non-directive and non-judgemental approach. There is an emphasis on: meaning, choice, responsibility, self-development, self-awareness and empowering you to reach your full potential.

Further Training: As part of my membership I take 30 hours Continued Professional Development study each year. In 2022 I have taken short courses in suicide prevention, couples therapy, family systems and nature based practice (due to complete in September 2022).

In previous years I have taken short course in: Solution Focused Therapy,  Transactional Analysis, working with young people, communication skills at end of life care, trauma and recovery, poor body esteem, mindfulness, working with attachment and depression and disordered eating,

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I appreciate it can be daunting to meet a counsellor and I offer a half price first session where we can meet and see if it would be a good idea for us to work together.

During this session I will run through the counselling process and take some details about you, your circumstances, what you would like work on and what you would like to be different at the end of therapy. There will also be time for you to ask ask any questions and talk through any concerns you may have.

If I'm not the right counsellor for you I can sign post you to other counsellors and organisations.
