About me

Hi there, I’m Becky - the Integrative Counsellor behind Create Space.

You’ve already taken a huge first step by being here, and that really matters.

I don't believe you need fixing, but I am here to offer a warm, relational and deeply compassionate space for all your thoughts right now.

And I want to reassure you, it's ok if you don't know exactly why you need to talk to someone- it really is.

Maybe you are feeling stuck? Stressed? Are you feeling very low and sad? or maybe anxiety feels like it is taking over?

Are you in a place now where you want to understand what is going on for you?

Knowing that you have reached a point that requires somewhere to really explore that,  is enough for now.

By blending humanistic values with a bit of body-awareness magic, we’ll work together to listen to your unique inner wisdom. Think of me as your steady partner in finding more breathing room, using a mix of tools tailored just for you. We’re building a real human connection here, where you can finally just be.

I have a particular heart-felt connection to work with those of you that have experienced death or loss, whether that be grief from the death of someone close to you, or the loss of a relationship?

My time with Cruse as a bereavement volunteer (on going) means I have sat with many of you that are bereaved and struggling. This loss can be recent or many years ago, time does absolutely not determine the grief path for each of us. We are each so unique. Perhaps you are struggling to cope with the weight of this loss? or you can't connect to any feeling at all? I hear you; this is the space for you. Loss manifests in many different ways; if you are needing a space to be with someone in that, reach out.

I also connect with those of you that are struggling with anxiety and anxious thoughts, and wish to be with someone that can sit with you, and help you to better understand why. Perhaps your anxiety is stopping you from doing things you used to do, or that you want to do? Maybe the spiralling thoughts make it difficult to function at all right now? Do reach out to see if we can work together.

If you are a Carer; if you care for someone living with Dementia and need a space to talk,  this is also the place for you. I have experience working with those living with Dementia and their families, and can create a safe space for you to be. Caring for loved ones who are ill is extremely difficult and can feel consuming, finding somewhere to rest the weight of all of that is so important for your well being. It really is ok to find support, here.

Humanistic Values.

We will start from the idea that you’re already wise and resilient. Our work is relational and compassionate - creating space to lay things out, get curious, and grow in your own way.

Our Counsellor-Client relationship will be an important part of our work, and so will looking at who you are in relationship, and considering what your relationships are like.

We will look gently at old stories and patterns here, not with judgement, but with a genuine wonder about how they served you once. By creating a silence that speaks, we allow the subtext of your experience to finally be heard and acknowledged, sometimes, only truly seen here, for the first time.

Somatic Integration.

We will also track your physical responses together, and view them as messengers, finding where the 'yes' and 'no' live in your nervous system. Gentle breathing techniques, and body check ins can form part of our work together, where comfortable for you.

Our sessions will gently move through these dedicated areas, at your own pace:

The welcome space.

Here, you will have space to breathe and just be!  possibly for the first time in a long time? Sharing, in your own way, at your own speed. Wondering- actually, how do I feel? what do I feel?

The collaboration space.

Here we hopefully find a little distance between you and your thoughts and worries. We will work together in ways that feel right for you; witnessing and feeling how you best respond, and exploring honestly together, is a large part of the work we will do. eg. Why do I always feel so angry? anxious? unsure?

Honouring your old defences and stories is incredibly important, as is understanding that we all have unique frames of reference and experiences that impact how we see and interact within the world. Compassionate curiosity feels like the best way to describe this part of our work together.

Considering power imbalances in your life is something we will explore together, where relevant- looking at the power threat meaning framework.

eg. Looking at what happened to you? by means of better understanding your unique life story and the impact of that on who you are today.

The check in space.

Allowing time for reflection and looking at what has shifted or remains stuck for you is also part of our work together.  In check in spaces we do just that.

eg.Reminder of how far you have come! and where you still wish to go...

The ending space.

Here we gather your progress and zoom out, hopefully with a bit more breathing room and a sense that growth is already underway. Awareness is increased and a greater sense of authenticity and self compassion is hopefully present.

Sessions can continue for as long as you need.

A free 15 minute curiosity call is offered before embarking on therapy. Here we can check that we are happy to work together, and importantly, that it feels right for you.

Cost: £49 for a full 1 hour session.

Concessions may be available for lower incomes, so I would welcome you to reach out to share your situation with me.

I really look forward to meeting with you and sharing this space together.

Take good care, Becky.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Please do reach out to discuss what you may like to explore. It may be that you are unsure but just need a space to be? In that case, we see what unfolds. Sometimes there is a shift, and what seemed like the main reason you were coming to therapy isn't what you end up exploring. All of this is welcome and ok. Sometimes, you have a clear path and know what you wish to work through and explore. Either way, we can go at your own pace, and do just that.

Should anything feel inaccessible at any point within the work- that can be communicated openly and honestly. We can also help safely explore other options for you at that point if needed. Your safety is and always will be the most important part of our sessions together.
