About me

Hi there, my name is Rachel, and I am a counsellor and EMDR Practitioner with over 14 years’ experience. While training, I have always been interested in understanding trauma and I wanted to help people recover and heal from having experienced trauma.

After qualifying I spent the first 10 years of my career working with children and adults that had experienced domestic abuse and sexual violence. Doing additional specialist training in trauma and then training as an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapist. This being the NICE guidelines recommended psychological therapy alongside CBT, for trauma and PTSD.

I have worked in various fields doing this work including private, public and charity sector as well as private practice.

After 10 years in this field, I wanted a change and worked specifically within mental health settings, again both community and private settings. This has given me a wide breadth of experience and working and helping people with a wide range of emotional difficulties as well as navigating life events and transitions.

My private practice has always been the core of what I do and who I am as a therapist. Whatever has brought you to consider having counselling, I will offer you empathy and compassion. Non-judgement and will be by your side on your journey helping you to find your own way forward.

I am also an experienced clinical supervisor and offer 1:1 clinical supervision for counsellors and student counsellors.

The majority of my practice is remote working via zoom but can also facilitate face to face depending on day and time.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
