About me

I provide compassionate, trauma-informed counselling in Ramsgate, Kent, and online across the UK for adults who feel overwhelmed, anxious, burnt out, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward. My service offers a warm, respectful and non-judgemental space to explore your experiences safely, understand yourself more clearly, and begin creating meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.

Hello, I’m Rachel Rayfield, an experienced counsellor based in Ramsgate, Kent. I offer face-to-face counselling, online counselling and telephone counselling for adults across the UK. I support people who may be experiencing overwhelm or burnout from caring responsibilities, neurodivergence, disability, trauma, abuse, identity exploration, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions including grief, divorce or menopause. I also work with parents coming to terms with a child's diagnosis, that are navigating the EHCP system and coping with any feelings arising from this experience.

My approach is integrative, person-centred and trauma-informed. This means I draw on evidence-based therapeutic approaches while keeping your experiences, identity, relationships, strengths and hopes at the heart of our work together. I aim to offer a steady, inclusive and supportive space where you can feel heard, respected and understood.

Together, we can work towards greater clarity, emotional safety, stronger boundaries, improved self-understanding, decisions and a calmer way ahead. Whether you are ready to begin counselling or simply want to explore whether therapy feels right for you, you are welcome to get in touch for a gentle first conversation.

Contact me for a free initial call at Light Circle Counselling if you are looking for a guiding light into clarity.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

I have good experence of working with trainee counsellors on placement in my role as a counselling coordinator working at Crossroads Carer Kent, and have a real understanding of the processes needed in order to qualify.

Additionally, I have managed waiting lists, assessed and placed a large number of carers experiencing burnout and overwhelm, who have desperately needed counselling with trainee counsellors during my nearly 3 years in post. I also have good experience counselling carers myself having completed my placement with Crossroads Carers Counselling.
