About me

Hello, I’m Rachel

I founded Everlight Psychology with the vision of approaching counselling through the lens of transpersonal and person-centred psychology.

A transpersonal approach encourages you to welcome the challenges you face and use these as an opportunity to grow and discover more about your true self. It aims to integrate all aspects of your life, including physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and spiritual, to deepen your self-awareness and explore your sense of purpose and meaning. You are encouraged to explore your inner world, confront your challenges, and embrace your strengths.

A person-centred approach encourages you to take the lead in your own healing and values that this is your life, and therefore you know what is best for you. This approach aims to view the world and your experiences through your eyes, listen to your experiences without judgement, and provide an honest therapeutic relationship. You are supported to take an active role in your counselling journey, making decisions and actions that align with who you are.

My approach to counselling is calm, compassionate and non-judgemental, and I strive to provide a safe and non-clinical space for you to explore your feelings, thoughts and experiences. The counsellor-client relationship is of central importance to me and is viewed as a collaborative relationship where we work towards your healing and growth. I utilise a range of different techniques, including traditional counselling skills as well as art and creative techniques, mindfulness, meditation, tarot and oracle card imagery. I also value human connection to nature, and therefore my counselling space is based at a quiet location in the countryside to help you slow down and reconnect with yourself and nature.

Please see my website for a more comprehensive understanding about my counselling approach as well as additional resources.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
