About me

Hi, I’m Rachel a psychotherapeutic counsellor trained in the pluralistic approach.

How I work

It can feel unsettling when you start counselling, but from our first meeting, I will offer you a supportive, non-judgemental space where we can explore together the issues or concerns that bring you to therapy.

At the core of my practice is the belief that no two people’s experiences or needs are the same. I meet each of my clients where they are at and tailor their counselling experience to them. The training I have had means that I can use a variety of techniques in my practice including CBT tools, psychodynamic theory, person-centred counselling and hypnotherapy. I seek to have a collaborative relationship with my clients where we can decide together which counselling methods we will use to reach your goals.

My face-to-face sessions are held in a safe, comfortable space in Harpenden, but I also offer online and telephone counselling. In some circumstances I can offer home visits. At the present time, I only work with adults aged 18 and over.

Areas of Support

I can support my clients with a wide range of issues including:

  • Bereavement, grief, and loss.
  • Stress, anxiety and depression.
  • Relationship struggles.
  • Self-esteem and personal growth.

Working with Carers

Caring for someone else may lead you to experience difficult feelings such as stress, worry, guilt, frustration, anxiety, and anger. Being a carer can also leave you socially isolated and with reduced opportunities to support your own well-being. My daughter has a developmental disability, and I deeply understand the complexity and challenges of navigating life as a parent carer. As well as my personal experience in this field, I have also volunteered my professional skills at Carers UK as part of the Listening Support Service. I support my clients who are carers by giving them a non-judgemental space to voice and reflect on their experiences.

Neurodiversity Affirming

I have both professional and personal experience of ADHD and Autism and offer an inclusive and affirming space.
