About me
Are you someone who has achieved a lot in their lives but still struggles with feelings of inadequacy? Are you struggling with past traumas that interfere with your ability to enjoy your hard-earned life? Or are you in a relationship that is drifting apart despite the love you have for each other? Has sex become either physically or mentally painful for you? I am Dr Primala Ashokan, a Consultant Psychiatrist and Medical Psychotherapist who is trained in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy and EMDR. I can help individuals and couples who are currently struggling and are motivated to change things for the better.
I offer EMDR for trauma, anxiety, and phobias, and I work with couples who want to rebuild trust, improve communication, or work through sexual problems. As a consultant psychiatrist and medical psychotherapist, I am trained both medically and psychologically, allowing me to provide truly holistic care to those I work with.
My work is grounded in creating a safe, non-judgemental space where you can process difficult experiences at your own pace. My medical background means that I can provide well-rounded care for those with problems like vaginismus, pain during sex or erectile problems. My training in EMDR allows for you to process trauma in a safe and evidence-based way.

Training, qualifications & experience
I have a post-graduate diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy as well EMDR training. I also have over 12 years of experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist in the NHS and I am a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. I completed my medical degree at Imperial College London. This has allowed me to offer an integrated approach towards my clients that combines medical expertise with psychological insight. My work is grounded in cultural sensitivity, shaped by both my own heritage and my years working with diverse communities.

I charge £120.00 per 60 minute session for individuals and £180.00 for couples therapy.
