About me

Hello, I'm Dr Primala Ashokan. I work with couples navigating conflict or disconnection, and with individuals working through trauma using EMDR. If you're looking for support that's warm, evidence-based, and tailored to you, I'd love to help.

I offer EMDR for trauma, anxiety, and phobias, and I work with couples who want to rebuild trust, improve communication, or work through conflict. My approach is integrative — drawing on EMDR, CBT, and psychodynamic understanding — and always shaped by cultural sensitivity and respect for who you are.

As a Consultant Psychiatrist with additional training in EMDR and in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy, I bring both medical and psychological expertise to my work. This means that if psychosexual difficulties — such as erectile dysfunction, vaginismus, or low desire — are part of what's affecting your relationship, I can help with that too, alongside the wider relational or trauma work.

I have over a decade of clinical experience and hold a post-graduate diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy from COSRT. My work is grounded in creating a safe, non-judgemental space where you can process difficult experiences at your own pace.

Please note I don't offer crisis intervention — if you need urgent support, please contact NHS 111, option 2.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have over 12 years of experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist in the NHS. I have a post-graduate diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy as well EMDR training. This has allowed me to offer an integrated approach towards my clients that combines medical expertise with psychological insight. My work is grounded in cultural sensitivity, shaped by both my own heritage and my years working with diverse communities.
