About me

Hi, I’m Petra, a qualified counsellor - member of BACP. I have decades of experience supporting a diverse range of adults, young people, and children.

I have an Integrative approach with Person-Centred practice at the core. You remain at the centre of the work.

I understand how difficult it can be to talk to family and friends during challenging times. In our sessions, I offer a warm and calm environment where you or your child can speak openly, explore difficult emotions, and feel truly heard.

My background in clinical and community services, where I worked with multidisciplinary teams, enables me to bring a holistic perspective. Whether you are navigating anxiety, trauma, low mood, depression, self-esteem difficulties, family stress, relationship or work issues, bereavement and loss, coping with change, or simply seeking to understand yourself better, I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental space where growth feels possible.

Everyone’s experience is unique. My role is to walk alongside you as you explore what feels difficult, helping you make sense of your experiences and supporting you in finding new ways of coping and connecting. I offer my clients the opportunity to work creatively with art materials, play, and sand tray, which can help express emotions that words alone cannot reach.

Therapeutic relationships are deeply personal, and it is important to find the right therapist for you. I offer a free 20-minute, no-obligation telephone or WhatsApp call so you can ask questions, share a little about what you are looking for, and get a sense of whether we might be a good fit.

I offer both short-term and long-term counselling, in person or online.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Level 3 Counselling Skills for Working with Children, including additional program of Hidden Harm and accreditation.
  • Level 2 Counselling Skills for Working with Children
  • Masters degree In Education for Emotional and Social Disorders

I work within the BACP’s Ethical Framework to ensure good practice. I have regular supervision and am committed to ongoing professional development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
