About me
Hello, my name is Peter Junior Royal. I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
You may be experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, emotional distress, or simply feel stuck and unsure of how to move forward. Perhaps you are struggling to understand your thoughts and feelings, finding it difficult to make sense of past experiences, or questioning aspects of yourself and your relationships.
Seeking support can feel daunting, particularly if this is your first experience of therapy. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where we can explore what you are experiencing together. My aim is to understand the world from your perspective and support you in developing greater self-awareness, understanding and choice in your life.
As an integrative therapist, I draw upon different therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of meaningful change and strive to create a space where you feel heard, understood and accepted.
I work with adults from a range of backgrounds and have experience supporting people with anxiety, self-esteem difficulties, relationship concerns, trauma, identity issues and LGBTQ+ related experiences.
I offer online counselling. If you would like to arrange an initial consultation or have any questions, please feel free to get in touch by email or text message.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over six years of experience working therapeutically with adults experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.
My counselling career began within the NHS, where I provided short-term counselling for individuals experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties and other life challenges. I later worked within an organisation offering longer-term, open-ended therapy, allowing for deeper exploration and personal development.
Since 2022, I have worked in private practice supporting clients with anxiety, self-esteem difficulties, relationship issues, trauma, identity concerns and emotional wellbeing. Alongside private practice, I work with a specialist charity supporting individuals impacted by sexual trauma, sexual violence and rape. This work has deepened my understanding of the impact trauma can have on trust, relationships, self-worth, identity and emotional health.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, a Certificate in Couples and Relationship Counselling, and specialist training in trauma work. I have also undertaken training in working with harmful sexual behaviour (STOPSO – COFRA121), which has further developed my understanding of sexual boundaries, risk, shame and therapeutic work in this area.
I am currently undertaking a Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy and, from July 2026, will be offering a limited number of low-cost psychosexual therapy sessions as part of my training.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
