About me

Counselling and Life Coaching with Payal - a pathway to healing, recovery, change and fulfilment.

Hello and welcome. My name is Payal and I offer a professional face to face counselling and life coaching service in the Harrow area. I also offer skype and telephone sessions for those preferring this option.

I have over ten years of clinical experience of providing one to one counselling in various therapeutic settings. I feel very passionate about my work and have successfully helped many people presenting with a wide range of difficulties over the years. I work as an integrative counsellor, using person-centred, CBT, and psychodynamic theoretical approaches to inform my clinical practice.

I offer a safe and confidential space in which you can explore your thoughts and feelings and make sense of difficulties in your life without feeling or being judged. Whatever it may be that is going on for you, talking with a trained professional can help. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and abide by the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. I aim to approach all of my clients with cultural sensitivity and recognise that one size does not fit all, thereby adapting my services to meet individual requirements.

Emotions - we all have them, whether we are able to recognise them or not. If you are human, which I shall assume you are, it would be impossible to go through life without having felt something at some point, whatever that may be:

• Perhaps you're feeling depressed and are struggling to see the light?

• Or suffering with anxiety and unsure of how to manage this?

• Maybe you feel overwhelmed with negative thoughts?

• Perhaps there are events and experiences from your past that are making it difficult to move forward?

• Maybe you feel overwhelmed, worried, stressed, down, hurt, lost, stuck, angry, frustrated or confused?

• Maybe you have experienced a loss?

• You may have experienced physical, emotional, verbal, and or psychological abuse or trauma and be suffering with post-traumatic stress disorder?

• Maybe you would like to learn how to manage negative emotions and to heal and move forward in your life?

• Or you may be suffering with obsessive compulsive thoughts and behaviours?

• Perhaps there is conflict in your life, work and or relationships?

Whatever you may be feeling, there are times in life that talking with a trained qualified professional counsellor can help. According to the mental health charity Mind, one in four people in Britain are affected by or living with a mental health problem. Whilst there has been much stigma around mental health, more and more people are recognising the value of counselling and how it can help.

Counselling or talking therapies can help in managing emotions and overcoming difficult times we may face or have faced in our lives. In fact it was my own personal and positive experience of being in individual therapy that motivated me to train as a therapist over ten years ago. Having always had a desire to help others and experiencing the many benefits of undergoing counselling myself, I wanted to professionally train be able to help others too.

• Perhaps you have been struggling and feel that there are blocks in your life which prevent you from leading the life of your dreams?

Maybe there are different goals you would like to achieve, be it to get a better job, improve your relationships, lose weight, overcome difficulties and live a more fulfilled life, to reflect, learn and grow and be the best version of yourself that you can be.

As well as being a qualified counsellor, I am also a qualified life coach and can also help individuals whose needs fall more under the coaching arena. It should be noted that there can be overlap between the two. Counselling and coaching could be considered as being on the same spectrum, albeit at differing ends. I can tailor the way I work in order to suit your specific needs and we can discuss this further upon initial consultation.

I believe that everyone has the potential to heal, change and grow towards becoming the best version of themselves. It would be my honour to be with you on your journey of healing, recovery, change and fulfilment. I understand that taking the first step is usually the hardest but please know that the road ahead need not be travelled alone. I am here to help. I believe that at the heart of effective therapy, it is the relationship between client and therapist that matters the most. I offer a free telephone consultation so why not contact me now to see how I can help and if I am the right therapist for you. There is only one way to find out and who knows, it could be one of the most important phone calls you make.

A recent testimonial from one of my clients:

“I cannot believe how much my life has changed since I started my counselling sessions with Payal. Before therapy, I felt like I had lost myself and my world was falling apart around me. Through counselling, my confidence has grow. I have learnt techniques for managing my emotions and have built my resilience for any events that may occur in the future. I feel stronger than ever before and only wished I could have done this sooner. It has been a difficult but worthwhile journey and I feel like I have found myself again. Whilst Payal will gently challenge you to help promote change, it is clear that everything she does comes from a place of genuine care and love. I could not recommend her highly enough” (Julie, 37, London)
