Counsellor/Psychotherapist

About me

Hi, I’m Paula.

Thank you for visiting my profile. I hope this brief outline gives you a good feel for the type of therapy I provide and the type of therapist I am.

Therapy is all about YOU so this will give you a little insight to me and the way I work.

First and foremost, I am a genuinely warm, compassionate and caring person with a heart that compels me to help and support others. This will always be at the forefront of my work with clients.

Building a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship is vital for effective therapy. My way of connecting with people helps to put them at ease and allows them to open up and feel genuinely heard.

My genuine warmth and empathy, coupled with a down to earth approach and a gentle sense of humour, has led me to successfully work with people to bring out the very best in them; creating a relationship and environment where they feel safe to explore any issues they may bring, and to uncover ways to improve their relationship with themselves and those around them.

Having experienced, first hand, how therapy can be life changing,  I am passionate about providing high quality support, guidance and expertise to help you to further understand yourself and your relationships, and to empower you to make changes to transform your life.
Are you ready to take the first step towards change?

I am an integrative therapist with roots in person centred therapy. This means I draw on a variety of counselling and psychological theories and techniques to tailor my work to each individual’s needs and circumstances. A person centred approach embraces the client’s unique perspective and experiences with empathy and understanding and creates a safe, supportive environment without judgment.

I am experienced at working alongside adults and young people experiencing a wide range of personal difficulties- anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, low self esteem, grief and bereavement. I work with individuals and couples and also offer The Rewind Technique for trauma and phobias.

My unique way of working, enables a deeper insight to yourself, helps provide clarity around your situation, and equips you with the necessary skills to make changes and move forward with confidence.
You don’t have to remain stuck - there IS a way forward.

Having worked as a teacher, coach, safeguarding officer and senior leader for many years in the world of education, I have developed a thorough understanding of the needs and development of children and adolescents, and have worked alongside many adults and families to support their social, physical and mental well being. Understanding the part our childhoods play in shaping our current lives, can be crucial in facilitating growth and healing in our lives going forward.

If you choose to work with me, I will fully invest in you and your growth as you invest in yourself. Together, we can work towards developing the best version of yourself, through sessions carefully tailored to your own specific needs. I will work alongside you to help you reflect on and overcome any of life’s struggles which may be holding you back.

Choosing the right therapist -one you can connect with fully- can be tricky and is one of the most important decisions you can make. So please take your time and feel free to reach out if there’s anything more you’d like to know.

I will ALWAYS respond to email enquiries. Please check your junk/spam folder as occasionally replies end up there.

If you decide you’d like to work with me, we can arrange a convenient time for a free 15 minute introductory call. There is no obligation to begin sessions with me. However, if you decide we are a good fit for each other, we can arrange for sessions to take place either in my courtyard therapy room in Street or online from your own space.
