About me

Deciding to see a therapist can feel daunting, but it’s a meaningful first step toward support and change. I work with people experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, addiction, bereavement  and many other challenges.

I’m a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor based in Kendal and Milnthorpe, offering sessions online (via Zoom), outdoors in nature when appropriate and in a comfortable indoor therapy space in Highgate House Kendal.

How I Work

My approach centres on creating a safe, grounded, and non‑judgemental space where you can explore what’s happening in your life at your own pace..  I believe that the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is the most important factor in determining a positive therapeutic outcome.

What you can expect from working with me

•          A warm, collaborative therapeutic relationship

•          Space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and patterns without pressure

•          Support in understanding how past experiences may be shaping your present

•          Help in developing new ways of relating to yourself and others

•          A pace and style of work tailored to your needs

•          The option of indoor, online, or outdoor therapy depending on what feels right for you.

My therapeutic approach

•          Rooted in Transactional Analysis (TA)

•          Informed by integrative and ecological perspectives

•          Attentive to the relationship as the foundation for meaningful change

•          Respectful of your autonomy — I don’t give answers, but I help you discover your own

Outdoor Therapy

I offer Walk‑and‑Talk sessions from two locations around Kendal, as well as a dedicated outdoor therapy space in my garden.

•          A different way of accessing thoughts, feelings, and creativity

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

My interest in Outdoor Therapy comes out of having been a student of a pioneering course that leads the country in Ecologically training therapists how to safely and respectfully work outdoors. Delivering therapy outdoors, with nature supporting and enhancing the therapeutic process, this I believe, facilitates growth. I place high value on the natural environment and its ‘green medicinal’ benefits to our wellbeing and awareness.

I also offer indoor sessions from a therapy room in Kendal.
