About me

About me

Hello, I'm Patsy and welcome to my page.

I work with young people and adults experiencing challenges such as high anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, bereavement, trauma and relationship issues.

I think you will find me a good listener, down to earth in conversation and with a relatable quality that will help you bring issues to therapy. I am an integrative therapist meaning I use mixed approaches so that I can be flexible in how I work with you.

I am a BACP accredited counsellor and I have been in practice for the last seven years. I welcome all clients from diverse backgrounds, with a non-judgmental and supportive relationship being at the core of my practice.

I offer therapy using a secure platform [Zoom] or for face to face I can meet you in a pleasant and comfortable space in Barkingside, Redbridge, Essex.

Practice description

When we meet in a safe space online or face to face, it is essential to understand that whatever you say is confidential since this forms the basis of trust. This helps you feel at ease to talk to me about your concerns.

I offer a warm and welcoming presence so you feel free to say anything and everything without judgement and I will listen. It is important that you feel heard. Sometimes I may reflect with you in conversation on past experiences which may link to how you are currently feeling, as this can help you make sense of your emotions and how they affect you and your life.

I will do all I can to help you manage difficult feelings so you can think more clearly about the challenges you face. Then together we can consider choices and changes to help improve your confidence, self-esteem, relationships and quality of life.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
