CBT (BABCP accredited) Counselling (MBACP accredited)

About me

I am a fully qualified accredited Counsellor and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (CBT) in both modalities with over 36 years experience in specialist Mental Health. I started my career in the NHS as Registered Mental Nurse and progressed to training as a counsellor (University of Hertfordshire)  and CBT therapist (Msc Kings College London in Advance Practice in CBT).

I have a private practice since 2004 and therapy will be offered within a residential space in St. Albans, Hertfordshire. The location offers easy off street and free parking.

I offer a free 15 minute consultation by zoom ,whatsapp, facetime or mobile call to discuss how I can help you and whether I am the right therapist for you.

The first therapy session enables you to share within the safe space the emotional struggles that you may be experiencing such as anger, resentment, guilt, fear, anxiety and many more feelings triggered by past and current life events. This process also enables you to start connecting with the therapist whilst identifying the problem areas you need to resolve. The number of sessions will vary depending on the nature of the problem/s.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

BABCP
British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.
