I help people struggling with bereavement, loss and grief, as well as depression, anxiety and stress. I can also assist with low self esteem and confidence as well as lack of motivation or optimism. I am qualified to work with couples and additionally trained for online counselling. I even offer home visits in the Southport area for those that cannot get to my therapy room.
How Can Counselling Help You?
Imagine the opportunity to walk into a room, laden down with the heavy baggage of your life. Then to empty some of those bags to look at what's really inside, hopefully to spot things that don't quite look right or that shouldn't even be there. Then, when you pack your stuff up and leave, your bags may be just a little lighter each time
Face to Face sessions are available at my discreet and tranquil Ainsdale practice, situated in my private garden, not visible from any main road.
I also offer specialised counselling for ex Jehovah's Witnesses struggling with the effects of shunning or other issues such as guilt, anger and identity loss. More information on this service can be found at www.exjwcounselling.co.uk
Why Should You Consider Getting Counselling?
Getting help in the form of counselling is a sign of strength. It shows that no matter how you may feel about yourself just now, you still have the ability to make positive changes in your life and place your own needs first at a time when you really need to. For many people, talking to a counsellor is one of the best decisions they ever make.
Some people find that the only time they get to truly be themselves and speak freely is during therapy sessions. As mentioned, these sessions may take place in my discreet therapy room, in your own home or online via video chat or telephone.

What Should I Do Next?
I would recommend that we have an initial 30 minute chat, free of charge, where you will be able to speak to me and explain a little about how you are struggling just now. I can also explain how I work and give you the opportunity to gauge whether you feel I would be the right counsellor for you.
I always try to respond to enquiries as soon as possible, but please try to be patient as I may be with clients when you contact me. If you have not had an email back from me after a couple of hours, please check your junk/spam folder, just in case my reply has gone there. If you provide me with a mobile number when you enquire, I will also text you to let you know when I have sent an email reply.

I can offer student counsellors their compulsory personal counselling for £25 per session, again, either online or in person.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
