About me

Is life feeling too much to cope with right now? Perhaps you're feeling a bit lost or finding yourself in overwhelm more recently? Whatever your struggling with at the moment, I can offer you a warm and welcoming space either in person or online to explore yourself and your feelings without judgement or expectation.

Together, we can take the time to explore your experiences at your pace, supporting the growth of your self-awareness and helping you to better understand yourself, including your needs, wants, and wishes. My role is to support you through the process of discovering what you want from your life and becoming more authentically you.

As a specialist in neurodiversity, I allow for flexibility within the sessions. Through exploration of your needs I attempt to meet you wherever you are at every session. For example, if you need to move around, lie down, sit on the floor, wrap yourself in a blanket, cuddle a cushion - you're very welcome to in the space, I may even join you. I have a basket of fidget toys, pencils and paper and stones for either sensory needs or a bit of creative therapy if you need to try something different in a session to support your process. My practice is about ebb and flow, meeting a need in you, allowing you to feel safe and able to communicate your difficult thoughts and feelings, at your pace.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Level 4, Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling which is grounded in the person-centred approach to counselling. Throughout my training I also explored other theoretical approaches, including some of the more creative ones, which if you wish we can explore further on your own journey.

Prior to my counselling training I worked for nearly 20 years within the police and NHS. My NHS career being the longest, saw me working alongside heart and stroke patients and clinicians, then more recently supporting the elderly and end of life patients with their medical and wellbeing needs.

My counselling experience has taken me to newer ground, where I now specialise in working alongside neurodiverse clients. I also have a high level of experience working with LGBTQ+ clients and clients suffering with PTSD, complex PTSD and anxiety disorders. That said I am a person-centred counsellor, believing in seeing you, the client, as a whole person so I am open to all experiences within my work.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
