About me

I work with adults in person (and occasionally online) from my home near Ipswich, easily accessible from the A12. If you look competent on the outside but inside you're exhausted by people-pleasing, anxiety, overthinking - we should talk.

I trained as a relational and integrative counsellor, which means that I can bring a number of approaches to help with a problem.

I am registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) in the Psychotherapeutic Counselling and Intersubjective Psychotherapy College, as well as with the BACP, and abide by both their codes of ethics.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a specific interest in attachment theory and childhood trauma and abuse. I volunteer at my local hospice as a bereavement counsellor, and often find that some earlier loss or unresolved trauma underlies a "stuck" grief; the same thing can happen in other areas of life, where childhood trauma can block us from being happy and fulfilled in sometimes unexpected ways.

As well as integrative, relational counselling, I am also trained in a modality called BodyDreaming, which uses body sensations, dreams, stories, art - anything that works - to gently move trauma through the body; particularly useful if you feel numb, or overwhelmed with emotions.

I can also help with anxiety, depression, low self esteem, managing stress - many issues feel lighter just by talking them over with a trained counsellor who really 'gets' you. The process itself starts to relieve the burden.

I have co-edited a book of stories on women's experiences at boarding school, having had a rough time myself; I am very interested in boarding school syndrome, and other forms of childhood abuse, and the damage it does to our ability to live life in colour, sustaining relationships without anxiety.

I remember from my own search for help how scary making contact with someone can be. How do you know I can help? Can we work together, or will I grate on you? Therapy is a huge investment in time and money, how do you know it's worth while? Book an introductory call from the button above, or drop me an email, and we can start exploring that straight away.

UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
